It is a custom to steal shoelaces. Stealing shoes and sometimes socks is an extended custom that some witches' guilds practise. In general, it's about carnival, which is a very long tradition and is even an intangible cultural heritage

Hi 👋 it is a custom that is practiced in southern Germany in Baden Württemberg, especially in the Stuttgart area. It's about carnival parades, i.e. street festivals, where you are allowed to play a bit of a joke on the spectators.

@@Camival_bw_admin I expected something like this. However, judging by other videos, there is clearly a clear fact that this banter is happening through the exposure of the girls’ feet. As if there is some pagan symbolism in this, perhaps. I don't know. The very appearance of these creatures is very reminiscent of characters from ancient slavic legends/russian fairy tales (Kikimora, Baba Yaga), although it may more likely mean witches from the Middle Ages, perhaps. I do not rule out that these are some characters from local folklore; after all, in different cultures, before the introduction of Christianity or Catholicism there, there were some similar or even almost identical elements.

Indeed, Fasnet has deep roots in pre-Christian customs, and many of the characters we see today have pagan origins. The depictions of witches and mythical creatures like Baba Yaga or Kikimora are examples of these ancient traditions. The connection to Slavic legends and medieval witch stories shows how diverse and rich the cultural influences in these customs are. Each region has its own unique interpretations and traditions that make Fasnet so colorful and exciting.
