when i look with my eyes i think " i think these dont look like indians" but when i realize with my heart and mind that from 1490s until now of all the europeans stripping away at native cultures , land and language, many tribes especially on the east cost have had the longest time of european -cultural obliteration of thier specific culture, history and everything that encompasses as shinnecock culture. I see a people who are struggling to have an identity because in 500+ years of cultural genocide. that they have to look to their brother and sister tyribes for dress, regalia and cultural ceremonies.

While what you're saying is true, even west coast and places like Arizona that's closer to the border have the same issue. Most of them aren't pure, they're part Mex and Spanish. But it's not even about the looks, it's about repp'n our culture. So, I won't ever be negative. The ones who's being negative aren't as pure as they believe or claim to be either....

Is this a made up Native Tribe? No hate just asking, i have never heard of these people before, nor their significance when the other native tribes fought for their lives during the Custer era. Do they speak their "Native" tongue? Do they have a blood quantum they go by to determine if they even have native blood? I am just very interested.
@ambienttechno2 жыл бұрын
Yes they're genuine. Search for the Shinnecock Indian Nation for more on them.
@coreyswanborg9062 жыл бұрын
Yes they are a real federally recognized tribe they have there own ways and are located on the east coast of the United States.. Look up there tribe and call the shennecot tribal number and ask questions on there cultural history .
@digg3r742 жыл бұрын
@@coreyswanborg906 Hmm interesting, a lot of the Tribes along the east coast and west coast all died out. No living member existed, same as the tribes in the lower south. But i do know some tribes had workers that helped farm their lands. But yes i will look into it, thank you for your help. I appreciate you reaching out.

You should do your research before you “play act” like your just interested. We are an Algonquin Tribe.

@@alwaysgoodmedicine-5655 I assure you i dont "play" or 'Act" when it comes to Blood, as you know blood is thicker than water. I will do my research diligently to satisfy my interest. From the beginning....to the Present. Have a great day Ma'am.

I did see a lot of turkey feathers . They look nice. I do not know the significance that might be held within this nation.

Because it is a sacred bird that provided most of the sustenance in our diet. It’s prevalent on our Island

Many tribes considered the the turkey a strong animal being. The tribes were up an down the east coast

It's an Eastern Woodland thing. We use them in the Southeast for a lot of traditional regalia too.
