I have a question on apex placement. This could possibly be a good video. People have shorter and longer nail beds. Does this affect where the apex should be placed? I haven't come across this info yet

Depending on the length of the nail, you may need to create more or less of an apex. For longer nails, you will need more support, so it will need to start a little farther back and flow a little farther forward, whereas with a shorter nail, it can be a little thinner and more directly over the stress area. To find the exact stress area on a nail that has no product, press down at the free edge. A white-ish area will appear just behind the natural smile line. This is the stress area when any pressure will go and the area most likely to crack or break.

May I ask what brush you are using? Size? I've been used to the OPI kolinsky size 8. They are becoming harder to find. I need to find a quality replacement I like. It looks very similar to the one you're using.
