Having worked in the film industry a bit, I fully understand the whole hurry up and wait thing. Spending a couple of hours in hair and makeup and then spending the entire day waiting only to find out that I wasn’t going to be used that day at all! The awesome thing was that they HATED my nails that I was wearing for that particular set. Thankfully, they were an appropriate shape and length with a good gel topcoat. So they just polished over them with regular nail polish. 😆. It’s obscene the amount of money that producers will spend to get a scene “just perfect” for a movie or show and the tiniest detail will be covered or blurred or worst case scenario, end up on the cutting room floor! I did eventually make it into the show, but you can’t see me. Not a single bit! All those hours in hair and makeup, the regular nail polish over my acrylics, 4 long days of hurry up and wait…. Yet another thing scratched off my bucket list that I never put there to begin with! However, I am now a card carrying member of the Canadian Teamsters Union, a certified specialty car driver (stunt car) and I’ve been in a Netflix series! Yay, me… 😂. Would I ever want to be in the position of the people who do all the prep work? The hair and makeup? Costumes? Food prep? Organizing the 3 ring circus that is a tv or movie set??? Hell NO!!! For anyone who may be wondering… The Haunting Of Bly Manor Episode 3, at the beginning as Peter his leaving the liquor store, there’s a double-decker bus in the background. I’m driving it. 😀

I can't say that's been a goal of mine lol. It would be cool on the one hand, but I want to make regular people feel good about themselves.

I am just now getting into doing nails. I've brought all the things and took a 1 on 1 class with a mobile nail tech who does my nails when I am on assignment for work. I often am on the road or in remote locations and due to Covid , pandemic boredom and racist nail techs I have decided to learn nail artistry myself. I am a traveling postpartum doula for high profile clients with a background in massage and makeup artistry including athletes and celebrity clients. I clicked on this video because it is highly possible if I decide to pursue a professional career as a nail tech that I would naturally enter this realm of clientele. While my previous experience (Childcare, massage & makeup) is very different, Tracy was spot on in describing the attitudes, miscommunication and hurrying up to wait aspects of working on set and with high profile clientele. I've worked in one capacity or another everywhere from massaging in professional lockers rooms / recording studios to doing makeup on a private plane on the way to Hawaii ( or wherever). It is not for everybody. Sounds very glamourous I'm sure, but half the time you aren't used and there are serious last minute changes and you must bring and be prepared for everything. I wont even get started on negotiating pay and personal accommodations. I believe you really have to first love what you are doing and be a very confident yet flexible person who is not afraid to voice their needs. Thanks to Young Nails for these honest in-depth Biz Talks and Good Luck to you all!

@Tanesha Richardson would you say its better to get a agency so they can handle negotiation for you?or was it even worse?lol
@tanesharichardson84373 жыл бұрын
@@beautypreneur_ It depends. I work with an agency now as a doula and I would recommend it however I was a free agent on my own accord with massage but with makeup I have done both. For longer assignments that require travel and accommodation I recommend representation if you are not well versed and legally minded.

My whole dream is to be one of the best nail techs in the world! I feel like being a nail tech takes time and growth. I want to do everyone’s nails as a whole. Famous or not! Because at the end of the day I’m not doing nails for a check. I’m doing nails to make women feel beautiful. With a fresh set of nails you can’t tell a woman nothing !

How would you inform or warn a new client about heat spikes in the lamp? Im a beginner nail enthusiast and practice on myself.
@youngnailsinc Жыл бұрын
Simply let them know that with every chemical reaction there can be a small amount of heat produced. Some people are more sensitive to it and if the product is applied thicker, there can be more heat. Let them know that it's ok to take their hand out of the light if they begin to feel the heat. Otherwise you can use our light on the low heat mode and this will cure the product slower and will reduce the heat spike. If you don't have our light, you can always start curing the nails outside of the light for about 20 seconds and then place the hand inside the light to fully cure.
