I dedicated this song to my old bestfriend, from about 10 years ago. He died in a car crash right before his first daughter was born. In no way was our relationship romantic, but we both loved this song and appreciated eachother in times of great need. Sometimes I randomly think of this song while washing dishes, or folding laundry and cry. It's been three years and no, it doesn't get easier. It becomes something you are able to bear though.

Maybe I'm just hearing this wrong, but the lyrics I'm hearing is: Five days Underwater Near your island Off the coast Oh no Five ways You were my lover Incantations Of the tide In rhyme Oh out in the glow I'll find you waiting Oh has it been so long now Oh I thought you knew that I'd be coming The way you move A foreign groove at night I could never I could never hold you Watch it rise up Where you hide your pearls Feel it pile up Where you cast those stones you wear When no one's home Do they feel cold on your bones All the years I've missed your warmth Have you missed my warmth? On your island Island

it is so annoying that everywhere is the wrong lyric, even THEY post the wrong one, and i was always struggling to hear out those words but never could. I'm happy i found this version because it's clear now what exactly he is saying. But I think he says: "I know five ways you were my lover"

I've seen them three times. I never miss them when they come to my town. I almost missed them the last time I saw them, in late August. I had work, and the tickets for the festival they were at were too expensive for how shitty the lineup was. So, I had lost hope, basically. Then, some random dude on Tinder asked me what I was doing that weekend, and that he had an extra ticket. I told him to expect me to get off of work that night--I was going to make it happen. So I made it happen! Random Tinder man got me a way into my favorite band. I have not spoken to him since. You call it desperation, I call it innovation and dedication. Love my Giants.

yeah, you are probably right but... I mean, how difficult can be to express that emotionallity in everything you do? getting the right lyrics and the right words? plus adding the melody and making it a perfect mix...? Also the moments we go through in life can completely change our perspective on things and also, the way we want to express those feeling out of our shells... That's why albums are different to each other... because we are different as well... every year we are different.. I dont know, it also makes me think on the RIGHT moment to listen to a song.. because I have been listening to them since the first album, but this song didnt get me completely until yesterday.... I mean, this is very complex and makes me think... is it us reacting to any specific song in a different way depending on the state we are living in? Does it depend on our mood? Is the mix of our energy and the vibration of the song? The message contained is waiting for us to get to it? Because I can tell you that for me, the last lines are so on point for the moment Im living in right now... I dont know. Sorry about the digressing ... lol ... music makes this to me with the right songs... every single time...

I lived this song for a solid six months of my life. When I woke up in the morning until I laid my head to rest at night, the song remained on a permanent loop in my brain. I've seen YTG in concert five times, always waiting for them to play this, my favorite song. My song. The last time I saw them live, it was about forty five minutes into their set and I had already abandoned the hope that they would play it. And then....they did! Miraculously, they did! And my heart simultaneously sank and exploded in my chest. It meant everything. To this day this is still my favorite song of theirs. I still listen, just a few thousand feet from the Atlantic.
