NFTs like this are Ponzi's, whether they intend it to be or not. Unless they hold cash on hand to settle any buybacks at any given time, any large number of buybacks simultaneously will collapse the token. Also, after the initial buy, raising new capital is impossible without bottle sales or selling more tokens, unless you're using the speakeasy as a cash generator. I foresee many legal issues and cashflow problems in this venture. Best of luck though.

The speakeasy's pay the overhead. Members pay cost for bottles so at any given time there is the original value of the NFTs in either cash or bottles. They should have cash on hand unless there is a "run on the bank". The funding of the speakeasies will be from a separate funding source. If Dewayne wasn't involved I would be more sceptical.

There are no NFT'S like this, I agree to a point with many of the NFT'S in the market but this project obviously has a use case and the product was not created out of thin air by a quick buck artist with many more behind it. Whiskey is a hard asset that will gain value over time. This is a very unique idea and imo it can work.

Dewayne is a successful bar owner, so I trust he and his team will know how to evaluate the potential for each location.

No way this is a Ponzi @Kane. For the bourbon lover this NFT has more utility than any of the "primate" NFTs out there. It's less about it having investment potential (which it will likely have some) and more about the utility of it to gain access to exclusive events, bottles, msrp pricing in exclusive spots, barrel picks of the kind of stuff your local liquor stores can't do barrel picks of and much more. These guys are all VERY connected in the whiskey world and are successful entrepreneurs. They aren't building up a community just to rug pull 5000 people.... they are the real deal.

I have to admit that this would be a little more appealing without being tied to a NFT and Ethereum. Since this costs 2 Ethereum tokens to join, what you pay to get in to this wildly depends on the crypto market. Only 8 months ago Ethereum was worth $4,800 per token and now it's sitting around $1,200 per token. Blockchain technology is going to have huge implications on things like chains of ownership in the years and decades to come and will be ideal for something like this one day, but the technology is young and cryptocurrency is unstable, wildly unpredictable, and somewhat unproven still. This is coming from someone who has spent a decent amount of time reading about NFTs and cryptocurrency, what they are, how they work, and even going through the process of owning a NFT once just to experience it. The risk vs reward of investing in a whiskey club like this, in my opinion, is well worth it. HOWEVER, the risk vs reward when you include everything that comes with cryptocurrency completely changes that picture. Just my humble thoughts...

I agree. If it was a whiskey club, not tied to NFT's, I'd be interested. There's no reason to include NFT's in anything, imo. It's a solution for a made up non problem. It's a solution looking for a problem. There's other, more tested ways to have a private club.

Doing NFT means it's decentralized and all 5000 holders have equal access vs. favorites of the people running the club. Only 5500 ever minted means it has scarcity and if someone doesn't like it they can always sell it to ANYONE and probably profit from it. Digital rights that are immutable, this is the way.

They didn't say in the video, but there is a large sum of capital being raised seperate form the NFT sales that will be used to buy the 20-25 bars across the country. Dewayne is already a successful bar owner, so I trust he and his team to be able to find the right locations that have longevity.

Best members only speakeasy I am aware of in the US, and looking to open more locations soon. Definitely has the quality I would hope for out of a venture like this.

Sounds like a cool idea. My assumption would be that the speakeasy locations will be somewhat centralized, though (unless I missed it). Would the value that an owner has with this membership differ significantly depending on the location of the member? (E.g. someone who lives near the bourbon trail would hold much more value than someone living in, say, Michigan). Love the videos! Been a big fan for a while now and have been excited to see this community grow!

Unfortunately the juice you were drinking in the 12 year old was distilled at distilleries that are no longer in business, so there really isn't anything that tastes like that. Additional, older bottles like that do change over time to have a "dusty" flavor that can only be replicated by time.

I am sorry you feel that way. I am essentially a whiskey journalist. If someone I trust (Dewayne Poor) tells me he is starting a nationwide exclusive whiskey club, I am going to report on it. I didn't create the program, I am just reporting on it. I didn't get wrapped up in NFTs and crypto, so I was surprised when a number of viewers had such an adverse reaction to this program simply because ownership is tracked on the block chain. I think you are saying that because I reported on this that you will no longer watch, and I hope that is not true. If so, I am sorry to have lost you as a viewer.

I’m in the hospitality industry and I really hope these people know what it really takes to open up bars and be successful. 5000 people is not enough to sustain a private bar that needs a bartender working hourly. Maybe 2 people a night would come in. Maybe no one. That and only 10% of bars that open stay open past the 1 year mark. Also I feel like the cost vs rewards isn’t really there for me. I travel with family and if I want to go to this club my whole family needs an nft otherwise the door is shut on them. No thanks. Sounds like a cool idea but reality vs idea do not match. Guarantee they would have to open the private areas to the public just to stay in biz which then makes your nft worthless. Also depends on the market of whiskey. 10 years from now we may not be in this bubble?

Solid points, but there is missing information. The 10-12 million the NFTs will raise is only to cover the whiskey purchased and the build out of the speakeasy section. Dewayne already runs several successful bars. They are raising a separate round of funding to buy the bars, and will have a seperate business that is effectively a nation wide bar group. The plan is to buy existing successful deals. Hope that makes more sense.

Do the distilleries have part of this? If not why would they supply this methodology instead of doing it themselves? Not all great spirits are inflating at the same rate. Yes, this guy has a fabulous heritage inventory but will that be available at current msrp pour rates? Or only new purchases (if allowed by the distillery). The current pour of an old SW Pappy, if found, is around 400+ in or out of a “speakeasy” as they explain it. Whiskey as an investment is part chance and kind of dumb. Drink up! Buy two bottles at a time and if one really stands out, stash the other. Buy land to maintain value and stay in the game while toasting with your treasures. NFT’s for mistresses may work though.

Tom, It sounds like you have some misconceptions about how whiskey is acquired by bars. It is illegal for distilleries to sell to bars, so the financial benefit (or lack there of) for the distillery is not a relevant point. All spirits go through a 3 or 4 tier system to get to a bar (depending on state liquor laws). Producer sells to a wholesaler, wholesaler sells to a retailer, and the retailer sells to a bar (in 3 tier states the wholesaler sells to the bar and skips the retail level). Who ever is selling to the bar (retailer or wholesaler) generally reserves their rarest items for their largest customers. In most cases their largest customers are high volume bars. This is why bars usually have the rare stuff. Dewaynes plan is to buy 20-25 locations across the country (using a separate round of funding from the sale of the NFTs), and use the purchasing power of the fully functional bar to source harder to find items and instead of selling them for $150 a pour in the main bar, put them in the speakeasy at cost for members. The whiskey you saw at $400 a pour was not bought through the three tier system. Some states allow bars to purchase bottles from the public and sell them by the pour in their bar. Not only is that illegal in most places, but that isn't part of Dewayne's plan because buying at secondary prices would make the pours very expensive thus negating the benefit to the members. I see your point that investing in a commodity that was meant to be drank my not make the most sense. As we discussed in the video, there are some bottles that were meant to be drank on a Tuesday night, and some that are time capsules that are meant to be held onto for a special occasion or for a future generation to try. Those are the types of bottles Dewayne tries to collect.

Alot of missing details and vaguely answered questions . 5500 NFT members is not enough to sustain 20 speak easy's plus a main location in Kentucky. Example if all 50 states were represented equally each state would only have 110 bourbon head nft members how can this be sustainable . I live in Philadelphia will it be worth it to me? Another question Who's the head of this organization I imagine Dwyane what if he suddenly dies ? So many questions? $2500 to possibly drink a rare Bourbon at retail and what bottles are going to be available . Something just doesn't click.

I had the same questions you had. If you do the math the NFTs will only raise 10-12 million, which as you pointed out is not enough for 20-25 locations plus the location in KY. In association with this they are raising another 40-50 million to buy the bars, which will be held by a separate entity. The 10-12 million from NFTs will be used to build out the speakeasy locations and buy the bottles. Dewayne has a team of 5 people that I have met so far that are part of the leadership team. All of this is being structured with attorneys and business entities being created, so I do not think that once things are operational the untimely departure of any one member would be an issue. I will tell you the same thing that I told the other people who don't see value. I don't make the news...I just report it. If you don't see value don't get involved. I run two large free whiskey enthusiast communities. The members have no idea how things get paid for. Many accuse us of profiteering. Right now I am in the hole about $10,000 between the two clubs trying to do cool free stuff. I have never made a penny from either group. People don't seem to understand that it doesn't matter how pure your heart is to do cool stuff and bring people together...someone has to pay the bill at the end of the day. I get that the term membership and community have different financial connotations, but don't close yourself off to the idea that Dewayne and his business associates have a good heart of using their influence to bring like minded people together to create amazing comradery, even if they are asking the participants to share in the start up costs. It isn't covered in the video, but the roughly $10,000,000 they will raise from the NFTs isn't nearly enough to buy/open 20-25 locations across the country. They are effectively starting a nation wide bar/restaurant group by using their reputation to raise 40-50 million dollars separate from the NFT money, and part of the profits from that Herculean effort will go to support this community in perpetuity. They don't have to do that. They could have just bought 25 bars, captured tons of profits, and called it a day. They are choosing to integrate this membership component because of their desire for community, and it will end up costing them millions in profits before all is said and done.
