Gwen, when I was 8 years old a art teacher (nun) seeing that I love her work give me a canvas and ask me to paint on it. In her eyes I saw that is was no good. I stop to paint, now I am 62 years old and I am trying again. This youtube touches me a lot!!! Thanks

Hi Gwen...this is what I needed today. Yesterday I had an ugly painting day. I painted over my whole canvas with one color. But first I finished one painting wich turned out really good. So I lift my head up high when I go into the studio today. Thank you!

Oh my gosh this is sooooo true Gwen!! I have just recently figured this out!! It can so easily bring you down…when a painting isn’t working! Now I just move on when something isn’t working, don’t get down on myself! Good to hear you say it tho!😉❤️

Hi Gwen. I’m 62 and my art teacher in high school told me I was good and helped me feel good about my art. I believe I was born with art in my mind. My paternal grandmother was a song writer, wrote poems, wrote books and painted. I believe that’s where I got the art gene. All my life I wanted to be an artist but you know I was told you can’t make a living in art. So for years I put it away. In my early 50s I meet my Prince Charming and he has supported my art the first day. I now have an art room and I’m having a blast. I’ve sold around 20 pieces of art but I also give a lot of my art away. I’ve been told I should not give it away it cheapens my art. I don’t believe this because when I give away a piece of art and they are so grateful it just makes me so happy. I’m so blessed I can do this and my husband supports my decision. What is your thought on this. Love your videos and one day I hope to join your art retreats. Thank you Gwen you are a positive person in such a negative world. ❤️😎

Robin...the idea of not giving your art away is sound advice if you are creating for a living. But, you my dear....you are doing it and it makes people happy and also makes you happy. Now, I ask you....is there anything better than making everyone happy? Keep up your great creative endeavors as they are making the world a better place to live. Thank you for this video…^___^ I began my artistic journey from the age of 7 and now 31 years later trying to learn that my artistic power can be such a good thing for my artistic brain…^___^ Usually, even when I’m depressed I make most of my characters full of smiles…pure smiles…I am slowly working on creating some holiday watercolor illustrations to sell…^___^ Basically…I’m trying to make illustrations for American Holidays…

Hmmmm....I have a painting on the easel right now that I do not know what to do with! I had a feeling a few days ago that it will be one that takes a while. It is easy to get frustrated when they do not simply flow...I just took a break from it a couple days and it will work out great eventually. I had a few teachers who had NO BUSINESS being around children. I am glad you do not belive you are not smart! I had one tell me I was a nobody. I guess the takeaway is to embrace all the failed paintings and just keep going! The biggest is enjoying the journey whether you are there yet or not. I'm a newer painter who started in watercolor 2017 and wanted to try acrylic, boy was that a switch and I am still learning. Gwen as a beginner Is it bad to jump around from one medium to another without mastering one first?
