I have a bird bath in the shade which I enjoyed seeing the birds come and play in when temperatures were hot. As of recently (temps cooling down) I noticed birds are staying away but not sure y... But alternatively bees have started to congregate the bath, which made me really curious about bees/water relationship. So like everyone in 21st century I took to KZbin and found this video. Thx 4 the knowledge, really appreciate it! Good luck on your 60 acre development.

Great idea, my bees are 1/4 mile from a river so I don't worry about watering though it could be better to have a closer supply, so I think I shall build one of these, could even use the same to feed syrup outdoors I guess but I've never done that as I think it would draw too many pests

Good video. Not a lot of folks talk about bee water and the efficient ways to go by doing it. Tthank you.

I like this idea. I saw a similar video using a 5-gallon bucket. I seem to recall that in the other video the lid leaked air enough to break the suction and the water slowly ran out. Has yours maintained the vacuum?

It has. The important thing is to make sure the hole at the bottom is large enough to break the surface tension of the water inside so when the water gets low enough it will come out.

Great information! The bees from my neighbor has taken over my bird bath and some are drowning I did put rocks in but hope I can give them their own watering spot and get my bird bath back for my birds. We will see 😊👍

thanks, I'll make up one of these, just got to try and source the lids with the spout in Australia. Any issues with Mosquitos breeding in the water?

I've never seen any larva in the one I've made.

I have a bee drinking tub here in coastal southern Mexico and until late thousands of bees drank daily, then one day they stopped, is that normal?

They might have found a closer spot to drink water from.

A little bleach will not hurt them, and will keep the container clean from too fast of growth with algea. Remember, they love swimming pools, and chlorine is part of it.
