When Pastor Doug says Thailand, I thank God. Thank you for mentioning the Thai people and thank you for mentioning our sins, we are a country full of compromise and have been given up to whoredom, there are very few real Christian men. Pls pray for "biblical" reformation in our country, and for God to have mercy. If there are any Church like pastor Doug's in Thailand, a church that does not blindly follow the fear driven narrative, I will be going there every Lord's Day.

Too many Christians prefer to hear a word of encouragement rather than warning of judgement for sin. It’s eerie how close we resemble Judah of Jeremiah’s day.

I was just thinking this morning: “is it a test if you can’t wish for God’s judgement on your own nation, that you’ve made an idol of patriotism and your nation? Perhaps we shouldn’t be asking for a ‘revival’ and should be asking for ‘divine judgement’?” Then this posts

Well I think the point he made here was that we pray for his hand to be stayed, but if judgement is what God decides then we know judgement to be righteous

One needs to understand the scriptural definition of grace to understand how we are “saved by grace”. “For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age” Titus 2:11-12 This grace is given to all mankind...some receive it in vain...not responding to the work of grace that teaches us to avoid ungodliness. It’s the spirit of God that leads us in paths of righteousness, for his name’s sake...we must be a new creation in Christ...not merely have head knowledge. “What counts is a new creation.” And faith expressing itself in love that comes from God...not a worldly love.

Doug, I totally agree with you. Bravo! But it saddens me you can’t see our future right in front of us: The Book of Revelation.
@khaccanhle19303 жыл бұрын
Your comment is a bit hard for me to get. Revelation was written by John to the churches as they were going through the persecution of Nero. He wrote this to encourage them to point out that the disobedient Kingdom of Israel was going to be judged and also the empire. This happened, Jerusalem and the temple were destroyed and the power that the Jewish persecutors had over the church basically disappeared. In addition, the persecution of Nero ended and he died. So, Revelation is 90% about the past. a little confused about what you might think Revelation is really about the future. The only Future Part is the return of Christ, and the final removal of Satan and sin and the curse. Ultimately, our future in the long run is positive. But there could be many trials and tribulations between then and now.

I'm premil pretrib because the specificity of those prophecies wars against an allegorical reading, but I can easily see how time can march on for a long time further. Personally I suspect the window of 2080-2150 is the likely time of the end, for various reasons, but the doctrine of immanence suggests to me that the rapture will be the inciting incident that results in the wicked suddenly having no restraint to keep them from accomplishing their goals, and resulting in the tribulation. In other words, events in the world today, whether they look bad or good, are ultimately irrelevant to being able to gauge how close or far we are to/from the last day

@@khaccanhle1930 So please tell me where we are at??? Why hasn’t Jesus returned?? This makes no sense. What time are we living in? Is Satan bound or not? When does the reign of Christ start? This is a ridiculous assumption when in 1948 Israel was re-established as a nation. This was NOT fulfilled!! How in the world can you assume that when we have so much sin in the world and Jesus is not on the throne in Jerusalem?

He clearly said Hades as distinguished from Gehenna. Christ did literally die and was literally buried and Luke could quote the psalms and say “that was about Christ” Acts 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. Acts 13:35 Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. Psalm 16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
@horrificpleasantry94743 жыл бұрын
Wayne Grudem has convincingly argued that the "into hell" version of the apostles creed resulted from two synonymous readings: one said "he died and was buried," one said "he died and descended into sheol (the grave)," and when an attempt was made to reconcile these, it resulted in redundancy (he died and was buried, he descended into burial), so people innocently but incorrectly concluded that by Sheol (or hades if that was the original term, but it's the same idea) it meant hell. Why it hasn't resulted in a major conflict for most Christians in church history is that though hell generally refers to torment, it still does have a minor definition of just the realm of the dead, and being in hell doesn't mean being tormented in hell, that would be heresy since said it's finished on the cross
