Not sure if that makes sense but I really like this bike and I would like to fix it. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Take the jam nut out of the barrel adjuster on the lever and tighten it up. Will keep you from snapping cables. I used to snap them all the time, they start creaking.. Haven't in a decade since taking the jam nut out.

Sorry for the dumb question, however that bolt that you took out at the beginning.... should it be tight or have a little looseness? If it’s too tight, would it cause the brakes to squeak when riding?
@Brant_Moore
@Brant_Moore 2 жыл бұрын
You shouldn’t wrench on it, but it should be snug. Too tight and it’ll make your lever harder to pull

@Brant_Moore
@Brant_Moore 2 жыл бұрын
Making dropouts bigger is a pretty big undertaking in that it has to be done perfectly for the bike to feel/be right. I definitely don’t recommend grinding or doing it yourself unless you have the proper tools/know how. It’s possible that someone with those things could do it, but by the time it’s all said and done, you’d probably have been better off getting a new frame. You may be able to find a lightly used frame as well
