In this video, Kenneth Serrao, Venture Capitalist, Founder & CIO at Alpha Capital Advisors Private Limited, talks about his career journey from IIM A to Kotak to TAG Heuer to Edelweiss to finally starting up on his own.
Summary
If you’re wondering what it takes to maintain a career in finance and how one makes important career decisions, this video is a must watch for you. In this video, Kenneth takes you through his career journey. He shares how and why he left an international career to come and settle down in India. He talks about the flipside of working at MNCs and why it’s tough to work in an Indian company.
Kenneth shares the story of his work with Kotak, and how he was a part of the team when Kotak just launched in India. He talks about getting a job through ‘sifarish.’ He shares how he moved out of TAG Heuer after a short stint as he did not enjoy the work. He talks about being with Edelweiss when it started.
Finally, Ken discusses an interesting topic- politics in India. He likens elections to stock markets and shares how the markets are always an exciting world to be in. He talks about how the junta needs to demand the right things from politicians instead of blaming them.
If you’re wondering how an entrepreneur thinks and acts, this video is a treat for you.
Key Takeaways
Most people don’t choose jobs based on job descriptions, but recommendations.
People skills will play an important part in your life no matter what career you’ll be in.
People will always typecast who according to their understanding. It’s much better to select a career that you like, and that is not a decision made according to others’ judgements or expectations.

his guy is a lair, he can not be good marketing or sales guy as he can not speak properly.. Engish and Hindi both.. He speaks too fast.. Sadly, in INDIA, PAKISTAN, SRILANKA, whoever become rich, people/media everyone started licking that person A** and make them a celebrity. Majority of businessman are tax choor in our nation, do not pay salaries on time to staff, Pension, and all type of fraud with employee salaries, holidays and rights etc and on the top this guy is not even capable of giving proper speech.. he speaks too fast which is against basic manner and ethic. I've never seen any host being/behaving like this. This is the second video I'm watching from your channel and thanks to Kenneth sir who has shared his knowledge so well. Previously, I saw the video of some Mr. Gupta who works in Microsoft and is a GoT aficionado. He's nothing in front of Kenneth sir tbh (in terms of connecting to the audience).

So if everyone becomes a CEO and MD and an entrepreneur then who will work as a manager at the "entrepreneur's " company?
@elva136
@elva136 3 жыл бұрын
So this is the paradox isn't it? A CEO or MD nurtures their companies like babies but when a bigger company offers to buy (acquire) their company they give in. Why do they do that? Of course - money. So why should managers in the company do anything to 'build' the company if the CEOs themselves are not invested in their companies? It's all in the kind of people you work for. If the CEOs, MDs of the companies are not leaders and do not motivate people within the company to learn and grow apart from just looking at your bonus why would you even stick around? It's all in the attitude. Sadly Indian companies lack leaders within their company's hierarchy and are filled with "bosses" and "managers".

sir ELON MUSK is right about MBA programs and top MBA school ?He is very negativite?Earlier I wanted to go for MBA now iam confused and in dilema? Elon Musk has made clear his utter disregard for MBA education. "I wouldn't recommend an MBA," the super entrepreneur once told an interviewer. "An MBA is a bad idea. It teaches people all sorts of wrong things. They don't teach people to think in MBA schools. And the top MBA schools are the worst." please explain sir .

I do accept that an MBA isn't necessary If you are starting something of ur own... Like a tech startup But if your goal is just to get a high paying job then mba adds value

It's because they mix lot of Hindi/local slang in the language. It's very difficult for people outside India/Pakistan to understand but make no mistake these IIM guys average 2350 out of 2400 on GRE. They are super intelligent

Mostly with desi speakers, thought process is in their native language and words per min is high, along with slag will make it extremely difficult. As an Indian who stayed in US for 6 yrs, I can understand all the words and sentiments

He has some sort of speech impediment/ lisp, on top of that he cant speak English properly ...maybe that was his problem in the U.S. Some English, mixed in with some Hindi is not English. Indians need to stop fooling themselves about their English language speaking skills and ability. I find this extremely annoying with Indians and the way they supposedly speak English in general while in India. A English sentence doe not include large bits of Hindi, And Hindi does not include large bits of English. Choose one and stick with it.
