My team (Carlisle) definitely have a cursed shirt number, 15... worn by a succession of failed wonderkids, journeymen and triallists who never broke into the team and got released in January and calamitous defenders since around 2005. Including one example where a player did well playing with his original number, was given the 15 shirt and immediately piled on the pounds and flopped.

But number 1 for Wolves is cursed Matt Murray : knees never lasted more than 5 minutes leading to early retirement Micheal Oakes : couldn't catch a cold David Jones : only memorable moment in the premier League was nearly getting decapitated by a young Wayne Rooney and then getting relegated later that season Carl Ikeme : cancer leading early retirement (real shame because he was a good keeper and is a top bloke loved by the club. Number 1 was retired as a show of respect for him) The only Keeper to make anything of themselves in a number 1 shirt for Wolves is Wayne Hennessey.....not exactly something to write home about is it?
