Literally every god forsaken youtuber is promoting the same nonsense. It wont stop until you start calling them out. Theres a reason these guys have enough money to sponsor every video and its not because they are so gosh darn nice redact.dev

​@@CubedCubone The single, absolutely biggest and worst sin that August commits, and which is inexcusable, is previews before videos. It can legitimately be viewed as a form of sabotage, given how big of a negative impact it has on viewer watch duration. I am not joking. People click off the video. These preview clip shows were really popular maybe 5 years ago, but then people stopped doing them after realizing just how bad they really are. It's a fundamentally flawed approach. You've already got the viewer interested in the video through the title and thumbnail. The viewer clicked on the video. There's no need to "tease" the viewer any more. And with how carelessly they're put together, they only leave the viewer discombobulated. They're really, really bad. I cannot emphasize this point enough. There's also no actual editing done beyond the first minute of the video or so. For example, the camera remains static the whole time. There are no close-ups to emphasize points or anything else, really. If you're going to edit, edit the whole thing, and edit properly. Don't just stop editing after the first 60 seconds. BUT Dan's channel does NOT need editing. And that's my point. Any editing will detract from the authenticity. Any editing is bad (but again, if you're going to edit, might as well go all out).

What about the whole issue of "real/active human who cares about their privacy" sort of flags for either companies that _don't_ follow the law, or companies that do follow the law more or less, but send your info through dark channels along with the updated flags that it's a real/active concerned person with money who uses online services. I take the same sort of issue with accepting free credit monitoring services. It seemingly just puts a target on your back, or rather makes you more visible. It's just a lose-lose scenario and the way I see it -and I could be wrong- trying to fight back could just make things worse for you.
