Building some sort of dampened and sprung suspension would be my priority, just to save my own bones driving it. Better handling may just be a side effect (the bathtub had basically McPherson struts on all four corners, simple but effective)

they have a similar type of sports here in China where you have to build anything that you can come up with your creative idea and you have to jump from a pier into sea water and try to fly as far as you can. farther they fly, better chances they have to win. these types of sports are really needed in today's world
