I never realize the importance of do files unitl one day I mistakenly made some unwanted changes to my data

How do I change my directory? I have a do file that won’t open when I try to because I have it in a folder, I’m assuming I assigned to downloads (I’m on Mac). But I want to have my directory be the desktop folder. Thanks!
