Very true! The “old category” is a nice touch I’ll be sure to remember this when I’m out buying!

I own the Fluance RT81, 83 and 85 and love them all. Great sound combined with great looks at a reasonable price. Can’t ask for more than that.

Do you really believe a $600 regal sounds better than a Technics 1200 that has been well kept

Why bother with all this old stuff. There are superb 500-$1000 tables out there.

Sorry....but totally disagree with your video. Your pros and cons were way off??? Had a Rega Planar 3 that I enjoyed...ending up picking up a Hitachi PS-48 from the original owner....this TT smokes the Rega... Looks better and sounds better.....yes it sounds better. Picked up a Nagaoka MP-110 cartridge which is better than the Rega...run this this thru my Vincent Phono preamp and my Yamaha Receiver and B&W speakers....this unit smokes the Rega...and it looks much better. Appreciate the video and you made some good points but I just feel you generalized a lot of your points on vintage and new. I don't know what you are talking about on these vintage being all gunked up??? Your pricing is also way off on vintage turntables...new is not always better...Linn, Thorens and others do require more money.....and are worth it! You are shopping on Craigslist and garage sales....and lastly if these Turntables built in the 60's and 70's are still playing today....yup they are built like tanks! Good luck with these Fluance and U-Orbit And Pro-ject models....something tells me these will not be around 10 years from now 🤔🤔🤔🤔

Well, imho new turntables are mostly old turntables of tomorrow, regarding their build quality, but probably the better choice for a beginner, because for buying used you have to have good knowledge about the matter and are willing and able to DIY if necessary. And yes, prices have risen to absurd heights for vintage gear, but on the other side you still can make a steal, although it takes a bit of patience and you have to look around. Anyway, many old middle class turntables from the 2nd half of the seventies up to the early eighties are still better and more comfortable than new ones up to roughly 1k. Personaly i have a Dual 1249 and a Sony PS-X6 since a decade now and both turntables perform after a initial thorough cleanup perfectly fine.

Zockopa Good opinion. Talk about a good deal, I just picked up a Technics SL1200 MKII for 20 bucks. Dirty as ever but cleaned up quite well. Plays and sounds fantastic. But now my Dual 1229 is making motor noise so I’ll have to take it apart and service the motor. Thanks for your comment and keep on spinnin’ that vinyl😀

@@TheBoomerPlace No chance in hell to pick a 1200 for such a low price up in my neck of the woods. Not even if its completly junk and dysfunctional. Anyway,if i would go for a Technics turntable, its the SL-1600MK2,which is imho a very good combination of quality and comfort for a home use turntable. But those are also rare and costly nowadays here. Very popular vintage models here are SL-Q2/Q3 and even SL-D3/D2 from Technics. Also SL-1900 and more rare SL-5300. Those were all middleclass models that sold like fresh bread back in the day and its easy to get why.
