The first-past-the-post system is outdated. However, if people keep voting for the Tories we will not see any political reforms. We also ought to think about having an elected House of Lords rather then the unelected scums we have now.

Of course the US will win but you still have the option to go Nazi. 2018 Renewable Energy Investment - US - $65 billion, Germany - $10 billion.Tell me again why Germany is making the rules in a 'Paris Agreement'. Shouldn't the Germans sign up to a 'Toronto Agreement' since they are so far behind? Under First Past The Post, HOW you vote is virtually irrelevant/meaningless because it's already been factored into the electoral calculations of Labour and Conservative Party managers - it's WHERE you votes that really counts! Tactical voting is both necessary and it does works (just ask the electorate in Brecon & Radnorshire constituency), but its efficacy is largely determined by WHERE you are registered to vote. If you live in a very safe seat, hard luck because you'll already know who is going to be your next MP but you could consider vote swapping to make your vote more effective? The need to vote tactically would be eliminated by getting rid of First Past the Post so the real underlying problem here is the UK's busted flush, not fit for purpose, past its sell-by date voting system, so maybe in the longer term your best course of action will be to join the campaign for electoral reform? Having looked at several of these tactical voting sites, the most accurate is tactical.vote/ - Remain United and Best for Britain are obviously skewed towards definite Remain minded parties so where a potential conflict between Labour/LibDem, Labour/SNP, Labour/Plaid Cymru or even Labour/Green arises, they tend to offer the non-Labour alternative, even if most recent voting behaviour, ie. June 2017 General Election result, points to Labour as the obvious candidate for any tactical voter to opt for? tactical.vote/ for tactical voting info www.swapmyvote.uk/ for vote swapping info www.electoral-reform.org.uk/voting-systems/ for general information about voting systems Finally, in my opinion, the best voting system to replace First Past the Post would be Single Transferable Vote [STV] in Multi-Member Constituencies - of course there is no such thing as a perfect voting system but some are much better than others - STV has the most positive attributes and the least negative downsides. STV takes power and influence away from organised political parties and puts it in the hands of the only person who should matter in any public election - THE VOTER!!!

Voting is about YOUR CHOICE and not some silly popularity contest where you can say at the end, " hey everyone, I voted for the winner" like you must be REALLY CLEVER. So clever....you didn't get what you wanted and are unlikely to ever do so, if your vote for what you want never gets registered in the first place. Its like going out with a gang of friends say, for an Indian meal. YOU want the Korma, but you know others want the Madras or a Vindaloo and so to appear clever you also vote say Madras so you dont look silly. @chorleycc5 жыл бұрын
This is the problem. Half the country may be united in terms of voting remain however it is impossible to organise such a large number of people. Therefore you get several fractions of remain, carrying out different polls (some more honest than others), meaning one remain organisation tells you a vote for x is remain whilst the another tell you a vote for y is remain. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.
@KillingTheMotivation5 жыл бұрын
I don’t believe this is the case. The vast majority of seats have a clear preferred party to vote for. There’s only a few where it’s contentious. In which case just vote the way you want and hope it goes well. Tactically voting as a whole will do more good than bad, even if cost a seat or two. At the last election if just 2% of the anti-tory/UKIP vote tactically voted, (polls suggest far higher did, we don’t know) that took 10 seats from the Tories, that stopped them getting a majority.
@lucasv97145 жыл бұрын

@davidcockayne33815 жыл бұрын
I'd say it's simpler. All Brexiteers should vote Tory, irrespective. Every election has its surprises, watch West Bromwich East, for example. It depends whether you trust polling (BfB and Remain United) or past elections (tactical.vote) more. Personally I think things have changed since 2017, and that polling is more significant, but you have to make your own judgment. Plus there's the added complication of which site everyone else in your constituency will use since, to be honest, the most important thing is for everyone to vote the same way, regardless of which side they back! I will say that there are a lot of seats which Lib Dems can win but Labour can't, even if Labour have achieved good second place results in the past. That's because it's only the Lib Dems who can realistically receive votes from people who voted Tory last time. That's why I was suggesting including 2010 (when the Lib Dems did much better nationwide), because it might give you a better idea of your constituency's natural instincts. @Jamal Ahmed you can see what the different tactical voting sites are saying here: dontsplittheremainvote.com/constituency/north-east-somerset.html Honestly I don’t see much chance of unseating Jacob Rees-Mogg... This site shows you a projection based on polling but *not* taking tactical voting into account. It uses the MRP method which has been very successful recently. It puts Labour and Lib Dems more or less equal, but still way behind JRM, even if all of them voted together. They give JRM an 88% chance of winning. www.electoralcalculus.co.uk/cgi-bin/seatdetails.py?seat=Somerset+North Personally, in a seat like this, I would just vote my conscience - for the party I like most - at least your vote will add to the national percentage. Even better, vote Green! They are going to get royally screwed by tactical voting (asked to give up votes everywhere, but not receiving them anywhere except Brighton Pavilion), and they need the national vote share to be taken seriously. I think a lot of them will vote tactically: it would be nice to repay the favour in seats where votes for Labour/LD aren’t going to achieve much.
