Join us in this video for a ferry ride to Grand Manan Island, located in the Bay of Fundy off the southern coast of New Brunswick, Canada.
Highlights:
Ferry Departure: We start our journey at the ferry terminal in Blacks Harbour, a quaint town roughly 73 km from Saint John, a drive that took us around 45 to 50 minutes.
Ticket Details:
While going to the island costs nothing, the return trip fare was $79 at the time of filming. To ensure your spot, online reservations are recommended, especially during the summer when the ferry operates daily every two hours.
Terminal Area:
The surroundings of the ferry terminal are picturesque, offering a great opportunity for a brief exploration before boarding.
Boarding Experience:
The onboarding process was smooth and efficient. Once parked, staying in the car is not permitted while the ferry is at sea, so we headed to the deck to enjoy the stunning views.
The Crossing:
The ferry ride lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the weather conditions. Our journey was blessed with excellent weather, allowing us to spend the entire time on the deck soaking in the beautiful scenery.
Onboard Amenities:
The ferry offers a restaurant and comfortable sitting areas, enhancing the travel experience.
Passing the Swallowtail Lighthouse:
En route, we passed by the iconic Swallowtail Lighthouse, built in 1860. This historic lighthouse is a must-visit spot on the island.
Arrival and Activities: Upon arrival, we headed straight to the Swallowtail Lighthouse, marveling at its charm. We then spent two days exploring Grand Manan Island, including an overnight camping experience at Anchorage Provincial Park.
