I did go for the standard i3S springs, I only upgraded the shocks - all I can say is WOW - what a difference - why did BMW not make the car like this to start with? The car is still rock solid on motorways (this is why I went for the S version), still handles through corners, but the ride is so much more controlled. I have gained so much confidence driving on the bad country lanes with the new Evolve Bilstein shock absorbers. The car no longer jumps or jolts and has a much more controllable ride. A truly impressive transformation. Better in town, corners well and now handles the roads in my area without trouble. Well done to the guys at Evolve, and thanks for sorting out the niggles without fuss.

My i3 Will need new shocks, would you still consider them now after 10 months? I’m looking at options and honestly not sure which to choose but I then to agree that i3 on stock suspension don’t match the bad roads we have in UK 😂

@@davidsilva3567 The ride was a lot better on bad roads, don't expect a magic carpet ride, but far more composed compared to the stock shocks.

Do you offer fitting of both springs/dampers and new shock gaters with wheel alignment at Evolve or is it just the sale of the parts? I'm not a million miles away and very tempted by these.
@EvolveAutomotive Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately we do not offer wheel alignment but can install the springs and dampers - we have a fully functioning workshop for customer cars as well as our development vehicles.
@NicoElumus Жыл бұрын
Do the dampers improve the ride mostly on country roads? Do they also soften some of the jittery ride on bad streets around town as well?
@EvolveAutomotive Жыл бұрын
Yes in all situations the damping quality is improved

Great video! Question, when you did the R&D on the springs, how did you approach the difference in weight of the REx vs BEV models? Since the BEV is lighter, aren’t the springs not over sprung? Cheers.

@gvngoheavy2 жыл бұрын
Still kinda wondering if anyone will make a widebody kit for these since both the front and rear quarters unbolt, yeah? Did a quick sketch of what one might look like a while ago when I almost bought an i3, and was pretty stoked on the idea. Still really like the i3, but ultimately we went with an id.4.
@EvolveAutomotive2 жыл бұрын
Whilst that is true, without cutting the metalwork beneath you wouldn’t gain any extra room. The i3s has the same amount of inner clearance as the regular i3. Also widebody and big wheels will quickly kill the range, defeating the point of the car
@gvngoheavy2 жыл бұрын
@@EvolveAutomotive Definitely respect those points. I guess I was thinking from a show car or track car perspective. I was thinking that with a widebody you could run smaller wider wheels and have the widebody drop the wheel arches down. I could definitely see these chassis' getting hotrodded in the future since they are a carbon monocoque. Totally different perspective from your daily run about setup, which I understand and respect.
@_Areku_ Жыл бұрын
Just to chime in, there are several successful examples of i8 wheels fitted on the i3S with 12mm spacers - you can run 215 front, 245 rear tires, which not only improves handling and eliminates the wobbling issue, but also opens choices to tyre manufacturers. Cheers.

We live in norway and just bought a 2021 i3. I was looking around to switch the standard springs and found a H&R set that many seems to recommend. Are these springs somewhat similar to H&R? I know little about this

I have a 2017 REX with 70,000 miles - all original except for new tires recently - love car, but ride is, and has always been, terrible - much bouncing and seems to be “porpoising” (on bumps, cabin rocks front to back to front, etc.). Which of your products will give me a smoother ride over road bumps? Springs alone will do it? Shocks alone? Both springs and shocks?
