😂 that’s crazy. Once it realizes it’s not the MagSafe Battery Pack it stops charging. Unfortunately reverse charging is slow & terrible. Apple wants to get it right when they enable it

@@JoseSanchezdontyaknow Exactly, although it is slow it's not intended to be used for long periods of time. It is not "terrible". I literally just use it in unfortunate scenarios like when my ear buds run out of battery, and I don't have my charger. I just charge them for a couple of minutes and it gives me like 2 hours of use, to continue my call or listen to music.

I think that’s such a cool thing to add. I couldn’t ever figure out why Apple didn’t have it. Samsung getting this option on their 10th gen made me switch YEARS AGO for a minute.. I had a hard time getting use to how Samsung phones worked so I eventually went back, but always thought Apple should have added that feature years ago. With that Samsung phone.. You could charge anything on the back of the phone as long as it had more than 30% of charge.. even Apple products. My friend and I were on our way to a Samsung launch event. She was freaking out bc she forgot her charger when we realized I could freaking charge her phone on the back of mine. Obviously it drains your battery but no less than 30%. Even if it doesn’t let you charge anything else.. and only do AirPods and watches.. I wish Apple would!!

If they add this feature apple it would be a game changer cause sometimes the AirPods are out (loud music people understand me) so you have to walk with the lightning to power the air pods.

Apple owns the Qi WPC standard hardware in most phones, including android, which natively supports bi-directional transfer by design. I'm glad to see someone show proof that it's nothing more than a software limitation.

it will be awesome if apple releases this feature. The macbooks and iphone have enough batteries for me to use all day and I ended up getting into the habit of not taking the charging cables with me. But all the time I have my airpods out of battery on the street and I don't have the cables with me. If the iphone could only charge like 20%, it would solve this emergency problem so easily. Hope they enable this feature soon. What surely they will do, but maybe only in the next iphones...

I wonder if apple hasn't added reverse wireless charger due to some sort of issue we are unaware of, but it would be cool if it was just something they could just enable in software on phones from 12 series and above, I would love to be able to plug in my phone at night and charge my headphones with reserve wireless charging. The hardware doesn't support reverse charging, just because it blinks up for a moment doesn't mean anything. Marques explained this in his review.

while theres obviously wireless charging capabilites in the iphone, the issue is most likely the fact magsafe has 2 parts, the things which (usually) charges and the thing which (usually) accepts charge, and iphones + airpods are both the latter. maybe in the future apple can either come up with a symmetric design (could be pretty hard especially if they want backwards compatibility) or do something creative like have electromagnets to switch between using both patterns.

Why not add a wireless charging coil to where the battery goes in the Apple battery pack and take the battery out and make the reverse wireless charging adapter mod that way. Try making that diy project a thing.

Huawei has this function for few years around 5 years now and it chargers any thing that is wireless it’s a bit of a let down Apple doing this reverse wireless charging but only for some Apple products and doesn’t work all the time 😢

Apple could have done reverse charging back when the iPhone 8 was released when they included wireless charging for the first time. However, Apple likes to sell accessories like separate chargers, battery packs, wallet holders ect. Maybe since Apple is focusing on 0 carbon footprint they’ll enable this somewhere in the near future.

Apple will never enable reverse charging for AirPods because they are perfectionists. I think they would consider having a non magsafe device on the back of the phone quite gimmicky, unless you wanted to leave your phone facedown for the next hour or so (meaning your can't use your iPhone at all). Your iPhone also just has enough charge to last a day so charging another device isn't exactly practical.
