"Happiness is relational" The truth of that has certainly been driven home to me since my husband died in November. Thanks!

I actually took this one step ferther and went a few months with out spending any money. I only spent money on food, bills and gas to get to work. No eating out, or spending money. It was really an eye opener to see how much money I saved at the end of the few months I did it for. I also noticed more of my bills were getting paid off. It also made me feel how lucky I was, many people have to live with out the extras and are suffering.

I love this topic. For the last few years-I am late middle aged- I have been living frugally and cheaply. My sister says I am not cheap, but I live cheaply. Trying to exist in smaller spaces, my mantra is If I don't need it, I don't have space for it, I don't want it!

I loved her book. I got so much from it. Thanks Janaia at Peak Moment! I love watching all these episodes. I’m not sure but would be nice for more current episodes. We are definitely at a point that change must be done. I read “Good News for a Change” and it’s inspiring that others are making things better. Awesome stuff!

Wonderful book, and as you heard, it changed our life for sure! Yes, we certainly could use more current episodes. But a combination of factors is leading us to wind down, and we are putting down roots in our own community, building a network of friends for mutual support. Our hope is that others will do their own versions of "Peak Moment TV" for their own communities. We so appreciate your watching!

I really enjoy the broad spectrum of guests that you have on your shows. Some seem like they are professors and others do not, that is encouraging for me. Thanks for posting these videos on youtube.

Wow! That was a quick half hour. That interview could have gone on for an hour easy. Langely is a nice place, or at least it was 15 years ago when I was there last. My wakeup call came in 2007 when I saw "the end of suburbia". It took a couple years but I got my financial house in order. Zero debt, home paid off, expenses = 25% of my take home pay. It's a great way to live. It's an interesting coincidence that I bought an electric bike too and I'm putting it together this morning.

You're absolutely right and i'm sure that people with similar understandings as you are also interested in freeing themselves from a money focused life.

Yes, research has shown that money does bring happiness up to a certain point. I don't think the message of this video, however, was that money doesn't make you happy. It's that many people expect that things they buy will bring them more happiness when ll it does is usually land them in debt. I highly recommend reading her book "Your Money or Your Life". Its purpose is to transform your relationship with money - not live completely without it.

I LOVE PEAK MOMENT TV!!! I tried to look for a fan page on FB...to no avail. Also couldn't find one for Jonaia Donaldson. I was wondering if a link to the terros thing could be put up in the info bar for possible duplication in other places.

@jameysturgill, thanks. I try to balance "ordinary" folks doing good things, with thoughtful folks giving us a vision of what's possible or analyzing what isn't working. Stuff for the head, for the heart, for the hands. Glad you value what we're doing! Encourage you to subscribe if you like~ more good stuff coming up -- we taped 58 shows on our 2010 Pacific Northwest Tour.

I agree about the outdated suggestion of bonds. It's what worked when Joe Dominguez was doing his seminars on Financial Independence, but not still true when we did his tape seminar in 1989, and sure not true now! We found the same thing with credit cards, so have simplified down to a checking account (w/debit card) -- which has a nice side benefit of reducing expenses for our natural foods coop (and other merchants too).

Woody Taasch, author of Slow Money, suggests investing in local food producers: farmers, CSAs, natural foods co-ops. Also take a look at Chris Martenson's website - ideas on how to protect your wealth and family. Invest in yourselves first.

Quality of your life is not always how better with wealth. Many people become greedy and loose family relationships due to greed and attempts to dominate and manipulate the others because they have got an illusion of power because of money I herited.Those end up very lonely at the end of they life

@summondadrummin, Totally agree -- we need to replace not only debt-based money system, but also industrial (corporate) capitalism whose premise is to extract more planet into stuff as quickly as possible for short-term gain. I think it's not just the middle class that'll need to understand this -- but the wealthy elite, the 1% who own the 40% or more (and are in control).
@peakmoment11 жыл бұрын
Consider investing some percentage in local food producers. For one example, take a look at our show "Local Investing Made Easy" here on youtube.com /watch?v=61F2IjGJIzQ

took me half a life time to find that most material items are useless. There is really very little one needs to be happy. wish i would have realized this at a younger age. Now our Planet is very sick from our over consumption.

This perspective will not remedy the debt and interest based creation of currency which is driving civilization into a flurry of activity much of it wasteful and wrecking the environment. Sooner or later we'll need a new foundation for economics and a middle class which understands the necessity for this.
