In the end Elizabeth the 1st got the last laugh. But honestly Mary shouldn’t be so angry with Elizabeth. I get it what happened and why she is angry, but not every child is not going to be just like there parent. And the great thing about having children is that they have a chance to be and do better then there parents.

@@scarletescolano3780 So basically Mary was Catholic and Catholic Europe didn't recognize Elizabeth as legitimate and so not the rightful queen. Mary was the closest blood relative to the throne and tried to claim that she was the rightful queen of England. After she was kicked out of Scotland, she tried to take refuge in England. She was put under house arrest because Elizabeth was worried that the Catholics in England would try to use Mary as an excuse to rebel. And she was right. While she was in England she actively plotted for Elizabeth's murder and for her to become queen. Eventually she just got too dangerous. Elizabeth was pressured by everyone around her to sign Mary's execution warrant. Elizabeth resisted because she was reluctant to kill an anointed queen and her own cousin. But in the end she had no choice, Mary was executed and Elizabeth lived with the guilt for the rest of her life.

As Mary was rightfully Queen of Scotland, Elizabeth was the *only* person who could have her executed (only royalty can kill royalty outside of battle). Parliament was dispersed as punishment.

Mini History Lesson: The two queens never actually met but instead wrote many letters to one another. The letters they sent to one another were often of admiration for each other, likely Mary's attempt at gaining the support of Elizabeth. However, it was certain that Elizabeth was much warier of her cousin (well they weren't directly cousins but they mostly called each other that when addressing one another) than Mary was. This was on account of that pretty much every catholic during the time would have wanted Mary on the throne for rather obvious reasons. Mary actually wanted to meet Elizabeth in person but she continuously declined these offers. Mary was imprisoned in Scotland because basically the Earl of Bothwell, her husband, was overall not a great person and people weren't happy with him and she got tangled up in it. When he died, she escaped prison and after a loss in battle, she fled to the north of England, expecting Elizabeth to help her regain her throne. Of course, what followed was Mary's 19 years of imprisonment in England. The length of this was mostly spurred on by Elizabeth's refusal to execute Mary. Her hand was forced as a result of the Babbington Plot against her and Mary was thus executed. So yeah, they never met. I really suggest watching the documentary Bloody Queens Elizabeth and Mary here on youtube if you want some more in-depth information. And a fun fact: Mary likely had a French accent since she spent the majority of her life there until her first husband, Francis, died. (Most all movies and adaptations get this wrong).
