"Real" scan tools cost money to be updated.. just like this one.. Most scan tools come with a few years of free updates but after that the updates are quite costly. $50 is very cheap for updates.

Similarly, if I say "my phone is now a scan tool", does that mean it has been one for a while, or did it become one recently? If it means the former, then what purpose do you think the word "now" serves? How would the meaning change if you removed it from the title?
