D.O.T. can still mess with you being that you have a company name on the truck. If you have a box on and they weigh you, they can still issue you overweight tickets if you are over that 25,500 lbs mark. If you end up weighing more than 26,000 lbs they can put you out of service until you get enough weight out if the box to get below CDL territory. I've seen it done.

Commercial over 10,000 GVW does not require CDL but does require DOT #.

Man, Josh. I wish you did this video before I pulled the trigger on the 5th wheel, roll off set up. That is a sweet package. And you paid about what I did just for the TX Pride set up and 6 cans not including the ram truck. Could a set up like this handle a 30yr can?
@AmericanAFDumpsters2 жыл бұрын
Whats up James!! I think 20 is the biggest I can go on a 14' length truck. I am sure the swaploader can handle the weight but the length will be what would stop me from going bigger. You would need to go 16' length or longer to get to 30's I think.

If you can answer this question, I’d appreciate it. I was going to buy any Isuzu 33,000 pound cab over hook lift Pal finger 22k ,but it does not have the ability to be in gear and operate the hook lift at the same time , but yet they sell it all the time, is this going to hinder me a lot ? or do I just have to put down traction mats on the driveway so I do not damage it. I am just guessing thanks.
@AmericanAFDumpsters8 ай бұрын
My Mack does not operate the hook in gear either, and neither did my Hino. While it’s not ideal, it’s the only way I knew how to operate a hook until I got my International. It’s simple, you leave the truck in Neutral and either drop or pick up the can with your foot on the brake or you take your foot off and allow the truck to be pulled under the can while pulling it onto the truck. It’s a skill you will acquire over time. Most medium duty trucks do not allow you to operate the PTO while in gear.

How do you like the auto tarp? Does it do good keeping debris from flying out
@AmericanAFDumpsters11 ай бұрын
Absolutely love auto tarps. There's a little science to it, if you hang over the end of the dumpster and keep it tight, it absolutely keeps all the debris from flying out!

Not yet, I have rise broadband right now which is month to month. It's fine during the day but bogs down real heavy in the evenings which is mainly when I am home. I am actually having a tower built on my property this month which will give me a direct line of site to a direct line of site to a high speed tower and up to 100 mbps download supposedly. Really hope that fixes it cuz it's not cheap!

Correct me if I'm wrong. 25500 plus a can will be in DOT territory, not to mention the material in the dumpster. Can you explain this, I am a bit confused. Thanks Josh!!
@AmericanAFDumpsters2 жыл бұрын
2550 is the most that vehicle can carry when fully loaded. NOT the weight of the chassis and Swaploader. Basically, the manufacturer tells you what’s the most you can carry on the vehicle unmodified. Minus the empty weight of the vehicle and dumpster tells you how much you can carry IN the dumpster if that makes sense.
@blackred14762 жыл бұрын
RAD. That's awesome Josh. This is something that I've been seriously looking into and I've been running into weight issues.. @EarlyBird_Dumpster2 жыл бұрын
I might be wrong brother, but if you add a can then you’re above the 26K right? Wouldn’t that do the CDL requirement? I’m in Florida I could be wrong.

@AmericanAFDumpsters2 жыл бұрын
Appreciate the comment but you are 100% correct to mention to CHECK YOUR STATE. I am in the great state of Texas, where we are NOT required to have a DOT # for any vehicle under 26k GVWR if we are NOT CROSSING STATE LINES. Just want everyone here in TX to understand this.

@hhprogressiveconstruction11402 жыл бұрын
Your total overall length is shorter better maneuverability for sure .
@AmericanAFDumpsters2 жыл бұрын
100% due to what HHP said below. So much easier to get in and out of places is the main difference. But the speed, reliability, dependability and sheer convenience to drop a can from in the cab makes me smile on rainy days or cold days lol.
@danahasson28922 жыл бұрын
Nice looking truck Josh. I think you got a decent deal on the truck and made the right decision on getting the new truck and depending on what you sold the loneStar dumpsters and trailer for I'm thinking that you didn't have to come up with too much more money to get the new setup?

So you don’t have to run dot numbers, but do you still have to though scales?
@AmericanAFDumpsters2 жыл бұрын
The only time I go over a scale is to pay at the landfill so they know how much trash is in the dumpster. Some landfills weigh you both when you come in and when you leave and charge you per ton on the difference in weight of both weigh-ins. Some weigh you empty and give you a weigh ticket and you show the weigh ticket upon entry and they charge you again on the weight of the trash.
