It's a little bit funny
This feeling inside
I'm not one of those who can easily hide
Don't have much money
But boy if I did
I'd buy a big house
Where we both could live
If I was a sculptor
But then again no
Or a man who makes potions
In a traveling show
I know it's not much
But it's the best I can do
My gift is my song, yeah
This one's for you
And you can tell everybody
This is your song
It may be quite simple
But now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind
That I put down in words
How wonderful life is
While you're in the world
I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss
Well, a few of the verses
Well, they've got me quite cross
But the sun's been quite kind
While I wrote this song
It's for people like you that keep it turned on
So excuse me forget
But these things I do
You see I've forgotten
If they're green or they're blue
Anyway the thing is
What I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes
I've ever seen
And you can tell everybody
This is your song
It may be quite simple
But now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind
That I put down in words
How wonderful life is
While you're in the world
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind
That I put down in words
How wonderful life is
While you're in the world

I'm 24 and I've loved Elton since the music from the lion King. I have a son now and he's my absolute world. I sing this song with him every single night before bed and he sings it to me. I'll hear him singing it in such random places like when he's playing or getting ready for school. But I always tell him this is his song, and he always looks me directly in the eyes for "you have the sweetest eyes, I've ever seen." I love that my son gets to hear amazing music and that he knows how much he's loved. My boy is my world. And if a song is all I can give him right now, at least he will always have it.💙💙💙

Enjoy every second you have with her my friend. I lost the love of my life 11 years ago. She truly meant the world to me .A week later I got injured and lost my football scholarship to LSU and became a severe opioid addict a few months after we split. I ran from the pain and all I managed to do is prolong my healing. I been clean n sober for 7 years now and I been free ever since. Just do a perfect stranger a favor and go tell her how much you love her and how proud you are to be the lucky man that got her. And your a proud soon to be daddy. Remember this also most people when they find out they are having kids you always hear them say my life is over now and every single time I hear that I correct them that there life just begin. Godspeed brother and congratulations. Oh I might add after writing all of this you would think I am pregnant...lmmfao

Wow....that's a situation I was in close related to /yours..with this song .that out of the blue came on and halted myself on my heels of doing something stupid out of sadness N ptsd events.but quickly realized with the same rushing memories n feeling of the good in life and was bittersweetfully pulled from that meloncally to remembering to love and gift life has given and as well instored. The good ..the bad..the bad in all reality helps highlight in Illuminating the good that's why I pray people try to reflect on the positives while in negative in downward thought process or mindset to hold on long enough to let pass and feel and see reflect of the light that's good have experienced or have coming and stored for future.... thank you for sharing and I'm glad can I see your your comment because it is almost identical relation to the song and shows how are situations feelings and memories that's how we're all just trying to live in the connections that we have God bless

Crazy thing is I'm a twin, we are both 27 and for some reason anything Elton John reminds me of him. We both discovered a lot of artists together, but Elton John is one our Al time favorite. We grew up on hip hop, R&B, freestyle, ect... But no one in our family really listened to music like this. Well maybe our grandfather who loves Barry Manillow's Mandy. I guess I just wanted to say I'm glad I can say I have something special with my twin, and it's music.

I started writing music during a very bad winter for me, thats when i met the most stunning beautiful girl this world could ever bring, she started reading and memorizing my songs and would tell me im a great writer and no one is better , I took that to heart and and perform the song during open mic in Missoula Montana and latter that night Elton John's "your song" comes on and we fell in love with the song and each other. Now still 4yrs later listening to the song.

In March 1970 I was discharged from the Navy. Getting home was great, but being away from the close friends I'd made and finding so many of my boyhood chums moved away or... well, different... maybe because I'd grown up or grown away? Anyway around 5pm the local FM station would play "This Song" and Gordon Lightfoot's "If You Could Read My Mind back to back. The two seemed to comfort me from the depression I was feeling. I listen to them now and get the same feeling from those two great songs which will always be connected in my mind. Thank you Elton and Gordon.
