SO interesting to see James out of "work mode." I have been dying to learn more about him, and I'm loving this glimpse into what motivates him. Knowing that through everything we've seen of him so far, he has a partner waiting for him at home? Devastating. Do I have another reason to love James now? Yes. Yes I do. The security he gives his listener after he lets them understand why he values what he's doing and why the last job is so important WHILST understanding why they're upset and why it's important to them just warms my heart and just tackles my feels. This does leave me with so many questions regarding(when does anything on this channel ever not tho?)what exactly is going to happen to James in the future especially regarding the Imperium implications of the meridian and the what exactly that means for his partner (yes, I will be drawing a lot this, my sketchbook stays full from these audios, that's never in doubt). It also just leaves me excitedly anticipating the future of project meridian as a whole and I am damn well pumped to see how it all plays out and connects together. I keep coming back to this one. This pair of characters just has an added layer of maturity and you can feel how 'lived-in' the relationship is compared to some of the other, newer ones on the channel. It's just bonkers how this is about a telepath saying goodbye to his spouse before he goes off to supervise a secret magical government robot project and yet it feels soooooo real and natural. I think there's also the fact that there's a bittersweetness in this one that we don't always see in boyfriend RP. He's *not* the perfect guy. He's made mistakes, and he's even admitting that this isn't the first time he's said he's sorry. Finally, I just think it's a testament to the writing and performance that, at the time this one was released, none of the actual lore in this was really a reveal. We already knew that James was a telepath. We already know about how important Project Meridian is. So the stakes are clear, but it still felt like it was unfolding in real time for the listener character. Bravo. Again.
