I just bought a 84+ Silver edition from Goodwill for $3.99. Put in batteries, and no go. I went to the TI website, and tried their solutions, and none of them worked. thank you so much for your help, this seems like a pretty big defect in this model. Your suggestion saved my butt. Didn't have the hex screwdriver to take off the back didn't even think of looking through those holes. At some point will need to put some solder on there to make for better contact.

I watched another video before this and he took apart the calculator and found that there was a burn on the contact so he tried to clean it but the burn wouldn't come off so he moved the metal pin to the edge of the contact where it was clean and viola the calculator worked. The video was by BarTechTV if you wanna see why this method works. Great vid by the way!

Worked for me. One of the pins had blue oxidization on the board where the battery pin sits. Slipped the pin over to a fresh part of the board contact and worked instantly.
