[[A little off topic but I’d like to hear your answer]]. I was using Win-11 then moved to Linux and distro hopped for a few months, moved back to Win-11 and installed a few apps from Microsoft Store (I was using a Microsoft account this time) then downgraded to Win-10 and stayed there for a few weeks, then formated the drive and installed Win-11 with a local account a few days ago. my question is, why does Microsoft Store knows which apps I installed when I was using a Microsoft Account if I just installed Windows with a local account which I’m still using? Microsoft Store has no user account Please answer 🙏🏼 I’m wondering if I should switch back to Linux. Seems like Microsoft built a unique ID for my PC so it’s the same if I’m using a Microsoft account or not

@nullvoid3545 Жыл бұрын
The rights of shows for streaming are sold both for A set time and in A set country along with limits on who else can lease the show during that time. So when crunchyroll buys A show, they are paying extra for each day its available and each place as well. This means they spend A lot on researching what shows people will want to watch in advance because its generally easier and cheaper to lease A show far ahead of when it will be shown. An extent of this approach the streaming services have taken, is paying up front for production in exchange for more permanent rights to keep showing into the future. Crunchyroll regularly funds the official subs and even sometimes dubs to anime in exchange for rights to show them permanently. But the short answer, Copyrights suck.

I’m pretty sure (not a lawyer) that the jurisdiction of where the VPN is incorporated matters less than the jurisdiction of the location of the server you are connecting to. Say the VPN is incorporated in a zero eyes country. If you are connecting to a server in the United States, the US will be able to access info via its own laws. It can subpoena the ISP which the servers are connected to, subpoena subcontractors who work on the servers, subpoena landlords, get a warrant to access and gain full access to servers, etc.

TLDR: Best privacy practice is to not put too much trust in your phone in general (compared to desktops hardware is locked down, privacy respecting options at the low level dont exist) and when you follow this practice effectively then using an iphone for daily, nonsensitive tasks is acceptable, not ideal but acceptable "privacy phones" in general are kindof a myth, even a pixel running grapheneOS is inherently a bad idea from a privacy perspective (when compared to desktops) as you are putting full trust into the fact that google haven't backdoored the device at the bootloader level for example. that's not to say using a de-googled phone is bad for your privacy compared to the alternatives of course (its one hell of an improvement over other phones like a pixel with stock rom, samsung or iphone) but what I am saying is that its a better idea to minimize the private and sensitive data you keep on your phone, and then go with a phone that suits your daily life best, rather than using a phone for the sake of it being as private as possible and then solely relying on it to store all of important information when in all honesty its still rather insecure and spooky compared to desktop/laptop offerings I myself did go the de-googled pixel route and have been happy, but I can totally understand why someone would choose not to go for a phone like mine now, x86 has many of the same issues with things like the ime or amd psp, but there, projects and options exist to mitigate this including modern ones like the msi z690a running dasharo/coreboot, or slightly older offerings like the thinkpad W540 or asus kgpe-d16 flashed with libreboot there are also chromebooks that can be flashed with libreboot which alleviates any concern with spooky things happening at the bios level so this could also be a good option
