The aspect of "miles" has a second dimension to it: "which" miles. For instance, if I see that my "9.6 miles" is all taken through the back roads that may not even be plowed, or are likely to have detours for construction, or are all below 40 mph, that mileage would take for ever to get out there and get back. But that same distance 9.6 miles if taken directly off the highway where my destination is very close to the exit, will take, presumably less than one minute/mile driving down the highway, so it gets me back to the hot spot for the next order much faster.

I keep telling doordash to set a minimum tip, ie, 20% + 50c/mile, no less than $3 per order. Technically speaking, all income is taxable. In fact, if someone robs a bank, even THAT money is taxable. All tips are taxable. That includes cash tips. Pretty good. But you really need to know your area, and how long some places take. Even if something is close, and has a great pay out like 15 bucks, it might not be worth it if you know they take forever-and/or the parking may be terrible. For example, be very careful at pizza places, sometimes you will literally have to wait 45 minutes for an order. With that being said, you need to be really careful about the orders you need to shop for yourself. Those always seem to be a big waste of time, unless you want to focus on that. You won’t do very many deliveries, and you better have a whole lot of space in your car, or a truck, but could have some good payouts. It depends on the time of day too. If it’s not busy at all, maybe take less. Also, a place like chipotle, or jersey Mike’s, will usually stack another order during busy times. So maybe grab that one for six or seven dollars, knowing you’ll probably get another one stacked on by the time you get there. And if you aren’t aware, the more you decline, you quickly fall into a category of getting few offers, less options are given to you. But even with that, if you know the area, and what you are doing, even if you only have like 30% acceptance rate, you can still do well. But it would be smart to juggle another app, such as Uber eats, or GrubHub, for those slow times. But yeah, if you hustle, and be strategic, you can make some good money. I would recommend not delivering in a very crazy gridlocked area, like Hollywood, or other cramped little cities. Not worth the parking tickets, and the stress. Find a nice smaller safer area where you can enjoy it, see some nice homes, deal with nice people, and just relax. 👍🏻

I don't understand why you are not including round trip miles for calculating distance traveled for tax purposes??
@mrsantana90944 жыл бұрын
Because you’re not working if your return trip does not include a delivery.
@mikec5555554 жыл бұрын
@@mrsantana9094 The hell you're not. You are returning so you can work. You can't just park in the middle of nowhere and expect an order to return you to a busy place. You really think private contractors like repair men only count miles to customers and not the return.

I get cash tips often I got a $15 cash tip the other day on a nine dollar order but when it comes to DoorDash rates they’re pathetically low and their app sucks and they send you way out of your way and their customer service is less than helpful.
@supplepaws3 жыл бұрын
I wanna say that i've been watching a couple videos like this about accepting and declining orders but this isn't as relevant to a person who's NEW to doordash because of their order ratio. I have under 100 orders so declining an order drops my percent by like 2% each and I'm struggling just to stay above 70% acceptance rate and losing my place as a top dasher, so there are more often times I have no choice but to accept orders that are crazy, and it takes quite a few accepted orders to push me to a safe 80% again. Picking and choosing orders is probably going to be better after a couple weeks/months of a high acceptance rate i would assume
@wueskew169 Жыл бұрын
The acceptance rate is calculated the same way for ALL dashers --- new, old, or in between. That is, how many orders did you accept out of the last 100 orders that were presented to you?

Thanks for watching, it depends. If I'm in a known busy area yes I'll just stay in the immediate area and wait (ideally turn the engine off but that's weather dependent). If I'm not in an ideal zone I'll drive to a hotspot but like to keep that commute to 5 minutes or less.

So as a independent contractor you are taxed federally at 15% correct? And if so for the first one your tax would be I know is 5.52 but the order is 12.75 and 15% of that is ~1.23(1.9125)? Probably my best mile to cash ratio iv had so far and the mfing restaurant told me it’d be a 10 minute wait and then 25 minutes later it would be another 7 minutes. I ended up leaving with no pay and wasted time! 🤬🤬 still had a productive day though with about $20 per hour.
