I feel so lucky and grateful for finding your channel, the very best German teaching channel I have ever seen. A question please. The case of the noun after “als” depends on the meaning, correct? For example, how to construct these two sentences in German please? I trust you more than him. I trust you more than he does.

Thanks for this video. Just one thing: You say nouns or personal pronouns after 'als' are always in Nominativ. But you can say: ich finde den Pullover wärmer als den Mantel - Akkusativ. Or Sie gibt ihrem Sohn mehr als ihrer Tochter - Dativ. Changing the tense can also change the meaning as in: ich helfe ihm mehr als dir vs. ich helfe ihm mehr als du. What case to use after 'als' depends on what is compared with what, e.g. ihm with dir or ich with du or den Pullover with den Mantel.

02:38: //Mia is exactly as fast as Lisa//, I'm not sure about the usage of //genau// in the context, but this could be a more precise translation. with "As fast ...", there can be a _little_ wiggle-room in the interpretation (I have no doubt that some native American-English speakers will argue). //Exact// in the context removes any possible remaining ambiguity. As always, an excellent presentation, ich verstehe jetz ein bischen mehr Deutsch. Vielen dank!. I subscribed to your Deutsch 1.1 course, as it turns out I have a good grasp of that material, but repetition helps. I will soon look at the 1.2 material.

Hey Herr Luzi ! A simple question I would like to ask when you have the time . I was in the situation of talking to a receptionist/secretary to get an appointment somewhere at a clinik . Not knowing the name of die damme da I wanted to adress myself to her with plain 'Miss' but I had no ideea on how to say it . I thought about just saying Frau but to me it sounded more like ' woman ' . So even it is kinda silly , my question would be : how do you say in a polite manner 'Miss' when you don t know the name of the lady you are adressing to ? Thank you !
@yourgermanteacher
@yourgermanteacher 2 жыл бұрын
In this situation we would just say “Entschuldigung”. There are some older used terms for “miss” or “misses” but not used anymore and nowadays rather impolite.
