Bow wow wow was tight. They had a great west indies groove that no one was playing at the time, but the bass player is one of the best bassists I've ever heard in rock. Insane talent, I recommend getting a few of their latter records.

They had killer TONE too! Each instrument was distinct yet they blended perfectly together

The Strangeloves did the original version, it's been redone dozens of times over the years by several different artist's.

Really enjoyed this lesson. Was able to play along but need to get up to speed. I met Bow Wow Wow right before they went on stage at the Brooklyn Zoo club. I was friends with the girl working the door and I ask her if she met the band. She says that’s them right over there playing the pinball machine. I went over, chatted a bit, and then they took off. Great band. Formerly Adam’s first Ants band minus Annabella Lwin. Adam blew that one.

Yes, Adam’s band. I loved them. What was the story with the band and Adam? I loved Adam Ant and I loved this song.

@@yourguitarsage Adam and the Ants were an overnight sensation with the song "Antmusic." I even remember them talking about Antmusic on the 6 oc'clock news like it was sweeping the nation. Unfortunately, Adam couldn't follow up with anything substantial. His most well known song Goody Two Shoes is in my opinion his biggest embarrassment. Imagine a new waver/punk rocker admitting he listened to that crap. I bought 2 follow up albums and was thoroughly disappointed. As I recall, Malcom McLaren who conceived the Sex Pistols advised Adam to fire his earlier band, which went on to become Bow Wow Wow fronted by Annabella Lwin, and take on a persona combing American Indian and pirate characteristics. Adam looked cool and was great in concert, but there was no substance to his music. Adam eventually split from Malcom after he suggested he do some porn to further his image. How much of this is accurate, who knows? I was 21 and was having a ball, and then it suddenly ended when WLIR, the only mainstream radio station playing new wave suddenly shut down. Adam was a real flash in the pan.

@@nydeco1234 Your bias is showing. There's a reason Adam Ant is remembered and Bow Wow Wow is only remembered for I Want Candy. Adam and the Ants had five Top 10 singles besides Antmusic (Stand and Deliver and Prince Charming both number 1) and the albums Kings of the Wild Frontier and Prince Charming were 1 and 2. Adam's solo albums Friend or Foe and Strip were 5 and 20, his last three albums were top 30, and he had four top 20 singles besides Goody Two Shoes.
