You didn't try the High Ridge Restaurant, which stunned the scenic beauty of the city especially at night, also the Ultra Winds Mountain Resort which also has an astounding overlooking scenic view, most especially their two large swimming pools. A lot more to see here in Cagayan de Oro City, especially for tourists like you.

This is my city Jen! I am an expat Aussie married to a beautiful Filipina lola and living in Barangay Lumbia uphill from CDO. I understand your comment about ang mga basura but it is after all about the seventh most populous city in the whole of the Philippines. I've spent time in both Laguna in Luzon and Lapu-Lapu City in Mactan Island Cebu and the trash problem you mentioned is evident there too. Makahambus Cave is only a couple of kilometers from where I live in Lumbia and the view from the rear of the cave down to the Cagayan de Oro River is amazing. Makahambus Cave is also the location of the first victory for the Filipino Resistance fighters against the American Blue Coats in June 1900. A very significant event in the Philippine-American War which began in 1899 and here in Mindanao lasted until 1913 due to the Moro Freedom fighters. I'm glad I visited that place when I first came here in 2017. Falls and cold springs and overlooks are beautiful, but Makahambus Cave is both beautiful and a place of history!

Hello Sir Jeffery, You are so correct about trash, it is evident in many large cities. In Butuan city it is even worse. What surprises me is how clean the streets are in Davao city. I just wish we could change my peoples minds set about throwing trash, I know it is possible because of Davao. Thank you sir about the history of Makahambus cave. I did research it and knew that history but sometimes I think Bore my viewers with too much facts. I just wish I had the courage to go through that cave to see what you are describing, but unfortunately no way! Lol You are so lucky to live up in the mountains in such a beautiful Location. Chali Resort is so memorable to me. We used to swim there during my childhood days. It was still called Chali Beach. So nice its already been developed. I miss Cagayan de Oro.

Wow, very nice. Thanks for posting. I've been researching SE Asia for going on 2 years, fixing up my house to sell and hoping to find a place in the mountains to live. I see so many videos of beach areas and only once in awhile some mountain trip. I think I'll just have to explore on my own because it's very confusing to me why so many expats live in or near cities and complain about the heat and city life. Maybe there aren't enough bars and restaurants in the mountains? That's OK, know many enjoy those things. But I don't know. Exploring and learning will be fun.

Sinulom Falls is shared both by Cagayan de Oro and Bukidnon. It’s not in Misamis Oriental. So you had it right.

Jen, do those clear mountain rivers have eatable fish.?? I have only seen them when the water warms up and near the sea. I was stationed at Subic Bay in the early 70's at that time it had virgin jungle and streams. I would walk up streams and found several falls and mango trees. As pretty as any place on earth, enjoy your beautiful islands Jen.

Hello sir thank you for your question. I did some research and this is what I found on CDO River alone. mudfish, catfish, spotted scat, tarpon, and other indigenous species like goby, Goldie river mullet, Loach goby, Bluespot gray mullet, Bengal eel

I've been back and forth to CDO many times over the last few years and never been to any of these places. Lol. Seems I am going to have to explore more. I have been to Bukidnon several times which is close by and has some really fun and amazing attractions as well. Love the list. Thanks.

Really enjoyable video Jen. My only suggestion is that you name the nearest airport (for those arriving on domestic flights from international gateways like Cebu or Manila) or maybe at the beginning display a map which would show the location of CDO.

You travel from either NAIA airport in Manila or Mactan Airport in Cebu to Laguindingan Airport in Mindanao. From there you travel east to Cagayan de Oro City. I live uphill from the city in Barangay Lumbia.
