We like it in the same way that we like to watch fight scenes in films. Literally 100% of wrestling fans know it's "fake", to the point that most of us are even more interested in the behind the scenes reality of the business. Wrestlers talk in what are called "shoot" interviews where they tell the real stories about what goes on behind the show between the performers, and those shoot videos often get more view online than any of the matches. That's why there are so many wrestling podcasts BY wrestlers. We all know it's just a scripted show. It's more retarded that non fans (like tom) ACTUALLY believe and have themselves convinced that wrestling fans think it's a real fight.

But he did think it was completely real until I had a talk with him about how it is a mix between acting, choreography, and actual wrestling...that the "enemies" are coworkers, that it is a form of entertainment and not serious. throughout my early 20's wrestling became my guilty pleasure. I never believed it was real. they tried as hard as they could to make people believe it was real. I believed some of the injuries by taking several falls and botched stunts were real. The gymnastics and the idea of settling feuds by beating the hell out of someone made it enjoyable. If you can get past the bad acting and watch like 5 episodes, you might get hooked. I could only watch it by myself or watch it with someone who liked it as much as I did. But mostly felt really ashamed and judged whenever anyone else was there when I watched it.
