Garth got real emotional in a recent interview and it got Christina thinking. Could there be something different about Garth? Perhaps he has something in common with someone like Elon Musk? Maybe he exists on a certain kind of "spectrum?" Garth might be autistic is what we're saying.

That’s what I’m saying haha Garth is definitely without a doubt a weird dude but he hasn’t sold out 100% of every show he’s played in the past 30 years for no reason. It’s because the guy literally puts on one of the best if not the best live shows of all time. His concerts are fucking unreal. I saw him 5 years ago and I’m not even a country fan and I walked out of that concert at the end in shock thinking “holy fucking shit that was the best show I’ve ever seen” and I’m 31 years old and have been to well over 200 concerts

@@fowchiiiliedpuppiesdied He has always been this way. He’s genuine. And if he is on the spectrum, that means his brain is quite literally designed differently than the vast majority of people. And I am said to be on the spectrum. Garth seems genuine in everything that he does. He also does make sense when he speaks, but people aren’t able to understand he is deeply emotional and speaks from that place. And they also do not under and that autistic folks tend to be EXTREMELY emotional, but often have difficulties expressing it because of a variety of reasons (sometimes the severity hinders their verbal skills, and even their understanding of facial expressions; and on the contrary, a deep and overthinking perspective on emotions, but difficulty containing them). I’d say Garth has found his gift and that has allowed him to express himself freely: music. Maybe in interviews he is gleefully naive about how he conveys his thoughts and emotions, but he is genuinely good and always enthused and EXTREMELY in the feeling. His wife did say she built him a “pacing deck” because he paces so much he wore the carpet down.

I was born and raised in the deepest of the south in the 80s. When Garth became popular everyone was absolutely bat-shit wild about seeing him perform. And I will admit, he's a hell of an entertainer. But even the early interviews of him I was like; "Something ain't right with that guy." He's just weird. Like legitimately in his own universe. Like, high on his own shit. I still love all the old Garth songs, but would honestly be unsettled to spend any time in a room with him.

At the risk of criticism and as someone on the spectrum I can tell you it's not about being non emotional it's about not managing emotions. And they can become overwhelming so you tend to bury them which gives you that robot vibe. Really it's a Life long struggle to not let your feelings run away with you. What you end up feeling can be so intense that it takes away your sense of self control.

I doubt it. People with antisocial personality disorder typically have no real friends and are often rejected by their whole family. They are the most insufferable of all the cluster-B types, and often end up jobless and homeless. They don't have the ability to blend in and be successful the way other psychopaths can. It’s when I’m having a somewhat heartfelt conversation, the problem is that it may be inappropriate timing, or in the wrong setting, or that I’m the only one having the heartfelt moment so the whole thing is inappropriate. I realize later, and then wonder why I feel the need to talk in the first place, I feel like it starts with anxiety, so you speak up and join in, then people are paying attention, so you get a narcissist boost, (the politician hand motions were are great example of this), next comes the martyr/ Jesus complex where you just KNOW you were sent there -at that moment - to help people. … hey, I never said it wasn’t fkd up

I’m pretty sure I’m on the spectrum, and I used to do what Garth does all the time. I’d cry for seemingly no reason. Or someone would raise they’re voice at me and I’d shed a couple tears. However, over the years I’ve learned to get it under control. I’ve kinda replaced the crying with anger 😂 but I channel it into productive activities. If I just get a little better at talking, I bet no one will even realize I’m autistic. Im a 20 y/o guy btw. Love the podcast

I think you’re just more emotional than most. Do we all have to have the exact same emotional bandwidth?

This hasn’t been my experience with people on the spectrum. Emotional regulation can be, and misunderstanding emotional and visual cues in social situations, but not quite like this. He is very controlled, and deliberate. With you, I think the context matters, so it depends on who was raising their voice and why, because it might be completely normal that you would cry when someone raises their voice to you, I have, there are many contexts in which this would be completely normal. So break down the context, who was raising their voice, do they have a habit of doing this, have they hurt you in the past, etc. you sound like a really sweet guy to me. Sometimes anger can be very useful and helpful, in channeling energy, I used this as well, and still do, to motivate me. Out of control anger is completely different, but channeled, it is very good at producing results. You sound like a bright guy too. I’m a fine arts professor, and a female, just so you know.

Yo is it just me, or could Tommy Bunz play Garth in an epic biopic? I’m seeing some facial characteristic similarities here, and I feel like Tom could absolutely nail some of the mannerisms.
