New Zealand Family try Buc-ee's snacks for the first time! (BEAVER NUGGETS, BEEF JERKY & BBQ!)

*I just discovered that a new Buc-ee's* will be built just two hours from my house and another new Buc-ee's will be built just 20 minutes from my home. LOL! 😅 They are both going to be absolutely massive, too. Both are set to be the largest size of store Buc-ee's builds. According to Buc-ee's they will be just as big and fancy as any of the Texas locations. Both locations will sport 120 gas pumps. 🙂

For the jerky you should buy it from the jerky bar rather than pre-packaged.

Jerky is supposed be as tuff as leather people used to do things to make it harder. fore some reason people started making cheep easy and tender . spending less time smoking and drying the meat and using tender meat .if it is easy to eat it is not real jerky. Buc-ee's jerky is not as good as what you could buy years ago. but its far better than the over priced stuff .

My first time stopping at a Buc-ee's I felt the same way as you guys, Now when I stop I always bring a small cooler with me just for sandwiches. Walking into a Buc-ee's is like walking into a Costco outlet you never leave without spending a$100 or 2 bucks. When it comes to Buc-ee's beef jerky your better off getting it from the counter. my wife purchased the pre-packaged and it was not so good to many preservatives. Banana pudding so yummy. They also have a pepper and steak burrito that is fantastic.

I make my own jerky. My favorites are my venison jerky and my beefalo (a cross between cow and bison) and my ex wife's peppered beef jerky. She also makes a delicious teriyaki beef jerky and a garlic & onion infused beef jerky. I make a homemade marinade. Soy sauce, a LITTLE brown sugar, a VERY LITTLE (it's a very strong flavor) toasted sesame oil and a bit of liquid smoke. It works well with the venison and the beefalo. Marinade the meat for 4-6 hours and then wrap it in a paper towel and squeeze until the excess is absorbed by the towel. Let it dry out in the fridge for about six hours and then put it in the dehydrator. And for those who've never tried it, beefalo tastes like beef but it has a more wild game flavor.

I like both kinds of jerky. The softer more tender jerky is good for immediate satisfaction. The hard leathery jerky is good if you're walking the trail and have time to enjoy it. If you cut the meat with the grain, it will be tougher but if you cut it across the grain , you'll end up with a more tender jerky.

Bucees does jerky right. The low quality brands are the ones that leave more moisture and is softer. The Bohemian Garlic is the best, but ALWAYS get it from the jerky counter instead of the pre-packaged stuff. Jerky should be like beef chewing gum. The longer you chew the more flavor comes out because it gets rehydrated by your saliva.

Have y'all ever tried Cracker Jack? Caramel popcorn and peanuts. It is absolutely delicious. One of my favorite treats when I was a kid. And as an adult. It used to come with a prize. Those sandwiches all looked amazing! In my opinion you can't go too wrong with sea salt caramel 😊 I'm not sure if I'd like fruity pebbles as a krispy treat because I do enjoy the cereal, it has plenty of sweetness already. Some day I'll get to a buckees and I'll try the nuggets and jerky and banana pudding. The burrito 🌯 looked super. While trying to find the nearest buc-ee's (at least 500 miles) they have gas listed at $2.73 in TX, it looks like there's one scheduled to open in Wisconsin soon.

As of today, two will be built in Wisconsin. Both locations will be Buc-ee's largest-size stores today, which are 70,000+ sq ft. class of stores with 120 gas pumps-so just as big and fancy as the Texas locations. The one will eventually be built in DeForest in the Madison area. (Once logistics are solved) The other that was announced today will be in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. 🙂

I like barbecue sauce with my ribs (brushed on while smoking) and pulled pork. I don't ever have sauce with my brisket because when done right, it's moist & juicy enough on its own and any barbecue sauce takes away from the smokey flavor of the long nine hour cooktime.
