To hear enemy footsteps better in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, you can optimize your audio settings to emphasize the sound frequencies where footsteps are most prominent. Here are the recommended audio settings:
1. Select the Right Audio Preset
Go to Settings - Audio.
Under Audio Mix, choose High Boost or Headphones. These options amplify mid and high frequencies, making footsteps clearer.
2. Adjust Master Volume and Effects Volume
Set Master Volume to a comfortable level, ideally 80-100%.
Set Effects Volume to 100% for maximum detail on sound effects like footsteps and gunfire.
Lower Music Volume to around 20-30% (or even mute it) to avoid interference from background music.
3. Turn Off or Reduce Ambient Noise
Dialogue Volume can be reduced to around 30-50% if in-game character voices are distracting.
If the game has an Environmental Sound option, turn it down to 50% or lower to reduce distracting ambient sounds.
4. Use Equalizer Settings (Headset or Sound Card)
If your headset or sound card has an equalizer, manually boost the 100-300 Hz range (for the bass part of footsteps) and 1000-3000 Hz (for sharper sounds).
Reduce lower bass frequencies (below 80 Hz) and high frequencies (above 6000 Hz) to prevent other sounds from masking footsteps.
5. Enable Surround Sound (Optional)
If your headset supports virtual surround sound (like Dolby Atmos or DTS), try enabling it to improve spatial awareness, making it easier to identify where footsteps are coming from. Some players find stereo more accurate for pinpointing direction, so this setting may be based on preference.
6. Test and Adjust
Play a few rounds to test how these settings work for you. Fine-tune the equalizer if necessary to balance other sounds while keeping footsteps audible.
