Thanks for this interview. I was hoping that someone would track this guy down. I am a conservative and a fan of Crowder, but I did not like the way he handled himself in the debate against Yousef at all. Crowder needs to make things right and invite Yousef on his show for a real conversation.

That is how Crowder almost always handles people he debates. You probably just never notice it because he always goes after the low hanging fruit. Thus, the person he is doing this to usually doesn't know everything about what they are talking about or simply don't know how to present it. And as a result you probably deep down feel they deserve the Crowder treatment and don't really see it as being unfair, etc. Just my guess.

Yousuf is a great example of somebody who researches and knows what hes talking about, even though I disagree with him, he handled himself vary professionally and I am genuinely disappointed in Crowder with the way he handled himself in that Change My Mind. I do think Change My Mind is a good thing and I don't believe hes baiting anybody into arguing with him, hes not forcing any collage kids to debate him. I do support what Crowder does just in this instance he shouldn't of been all over Yousuf's vocabulary.

Personally the greatest thing about all of this is that Yusef is a conservative just like Crowder, but Crowder assumes he is a socialist based on the debate topic "Socialism is Evil." This kid never claims to be a socialist or any kind of left winger. He just claims that that particular form of Government is not inherently evil, but the people who run them can be. Used to respect Steven Crowder for all of his content but Yusef made me realize that Crowder can only be on top of his game as long as his opponents are braindead. I lost alot of respect for Crowder after the debate and I don't really follow his content anymore. He needs to apologize to Yusef for his bad behaviour during the debate. Anytime he talks about Scandinavian countries it fails to me, as I'm Swedish and most he says is foreign to me. They're not necessarily one and the same as the former can act in self-interest in varying degrees of the latter (with the exception of no capitalism) and I wouldn't argue that a lot of what enabled mass migration wasn't ideologically-fueled. Also Sweden is not socialist, while it has policies that dip into that realm, it also has policies that counteract, like lower corporate tax rates, etc. It hasn't fully seized the means of production, and when people use Sweden or Denmark as an example of socialism they usually just want to keep the big government aspects of it and ignore the rest.

Yousef is a real conservative. The problem with people is that they know next to nothing about how the US developed. Conservatives in the US used to believe wage slavery was evil. They believed corporations were evil. They only supported selling your product, not your labor. That was considered an attack on your personhood, worse than being a literal slave. As you had to at least take care of slaves. Lincoln only supported wage labor so long as most Americans wouldn't have to do it too long. Seeing as that isn't the case, Lincoln likely wouldn't have supported it had he known he was wrong. So conservatives weren't really pro "Free markets" as we know it today. People who call themselves conservatives today are Corporatists. Which is extremely different. And it's not even clear that free markets can even exist in reality, as once a group becomes rich they have no reason to respect the rights of anyone else. And the poor have no reason to respect their property. And because markets always high jack the state and then turn it on foreigners. Meaning, actual existing capitalism leads to the rich using the state to threaten foreigners that get int heir economic way.

This Yousef kid is very smart. I would have a hard time debating him about minimum wage. I am fairly convinced price controls do not work. Unfortunately you have to give power to government to enforce the price controls and governments suck at everything.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of a fixed min wage which applies to everyone in America on a Federal level. The Nordic countries have a pretty good system for this IMO, where workers unions bargain for a minimum wage for their trade, so carpenters have a different minimum wage than fast food workers (which makes total sense). 15$ is also really high, the highest I would consider reasonable right now would be maybe 10$. Small businesses simply wouldn't be able to pay their employees 15$/hr without increasing prices, which of course will reduce their overall business. And what's the point of paying people more money if prices have to go up at the same time? My guess is that big businesses will benefit the most from a min wage increase, especially 15$.

Price control (price ceilings) sometimes work in the right cases. Good examples are the price for fuel or limiting the price for renting households (in Sweden it's a thing and it's led to other methods of distributing housing, for example if you want housing close to a university an easy way is to sign up on housing queues which is more fair to everyone.)

I don’t think that Yousef confines himself to a political label. I interpreted his arguments to mean that there are aspects of socialist values that are beneficial to the well being of the state and capitalist values that are beneficial to the state. That there is a fair amount of bargaining between economic concepts to make a highly functioning, cohesive society. He acknowledges the strengths and the weaknesses of both concepts rather than be polar in his reasoning. I also believe that Crowder has gotten to the point where he was so used to dealing with people that argued ineffectively; that his affirmation that they couldn’t argue effectively; was projected on the person he was debating with at the time. At a time that could have further solidified his ability to fairly argue; he failed. Which was due to his ego inflation from winning arguments with people who think much less critically than he does. Yousef shined because he was fair and rational in presenting his arguments totally, which could not be said of his opponent Crowder. Crowder had moments in which this was true, but not totally. He relied to much on the achievements in debate he has had before to recognize that this situation was totally different and must be approached as such.

@@tg8603 immigration is the KEY issue. Importing the 3rd world will turn the country in to the 3rd world, we don't have some magic dirt that changes people's evolutionary biology. That's just the demographic issue, there's also the economic issue. Importing foreigners to work for cheaper wages undermines American wage growth. That's why all the big corporations are for massive immigration, whether it be legal or illegal, they don't care. Instead of outsourcing their labor divisions overseas they import them. Just recently Trump said he wants to import for immigrants than ever before for all these great jobs he's supposedly creating. Why the fuck can't Americans be trained to work these great jobs? If you can take our stance on immigration, we will happily work with you on other issues.

Due to it being so out of the blue, change my mind relies on people either not correctly informed or emotional so crowder looks smart and always correct. But when someone comes and tries to actually do the same thing crowder does to crowder(as in talk down to him with his own knowledge to shut down the other persons attempt) he gets aggravated and doesn’t like it. Whether either person had a valid point was not the main issue, it was that both were having a discussion that went nowhere because crowder didn’t want him to talk too much and Yusuf wanted to keep talking.
