I am not an expert by any means but I do have some advice, try to sit deeper in the saddle and also think slow and try to slow your body down. Also one thing that helped me is watching western pleasure congress videos and that will give you some good references. Hope that helped!

I know this is old, but I decided to comment just in case you look back at these comments. Not sure if you've fixed these problems but I'll list just a few for you just in case. :) One thing I noticed you were doing was you were always looking down. I know it's tough to remember to look forward, I still do it. But it looks a lot nicer if you're facing up and forward, but you can look down at your horse. Also, sit up straighter, put your shoulders back and sit deeper in your saddle. Remember to wrap your legs around the horse. I've noticed most horses love it when the rider has their legs wrapped around them, they will listen better and slow down. Keep your heels down, and your hand down (like everyone in the comments were saying!) it's best to keep your hand right above the withers and in front of the horn. Other than that, you look great! You have yourself a great horse!

You rode pretty well, but I would suggest sitting deeper into the saddle when asking for a stop or to slow down. I would also keep your hands by the withers of the horse. But for your first class you did pretty good.

Just drop your hand a bit and try to keep them heels down 😁

My only advice is to put your hand down just a bit. You do want to have a little bit of drape in your reins for Western Pleasure classes.

I know this is old but just in case, Make sure you lengthen your reins a little more for your pleasure classes. His jog was pretty good, maybe a tiny bit more. As for your lope it was definitely too fast, and if your going to ask him to slow down make sure you do it right away rather than waiting and taking your time to do it. Also his headset was a little too high at the lope. Lastly, keep your hand a little lower. Overall you did pretty good for your first class on him :)

I love how smooth your horses trot is!! Try to keep her a little slower and her head down. She has a really smooth gait do you don't need to worry about that like I do.. But other that that GREAT job!

as an experienced rider I would suggest that you relax a bit cause you were very stiff also drop your reins and keep this heels down also work on slowing down you canter

when your trootting or loping do put your hands up put them in front of the horn

this is weird to me bc for my 4H we wear Horsemanship tops and black jeans, not white shirts and plain jeans.

I know everyone has been saying this but keeping you heels and hand down will improve your performance drastically. If you have to keep you reins short that's understandable; it's not appealing in the class but it's 4H so it's not really a huge penalty. Your seat needs improving too. I'm just gonna say it....your humping the saddle. If you quiet you seat you will be able to control your horses speed with your butt. Your horse's head isn't dropped far enough; you won't a relaxed look. But over very nice ride for training by yourself.
