"is this an honest mistake" It's just laziness, I'm a white guy, the only undertones I have in my skin are sickly yellow or ghostly blue (I also don't wear make up) Even still, the fact that the people the foundation is marketed for (people with darker complexions) can't even wear it/call it 'black face paint' That's *crazy* on their part, crazy that they can't even give it an undertone other than just black and crazy that they were too lazy to find people with that skintone that can wear it before selling it💀

I know a KZbinr who is pale and has added white to some of her foundations. It’s a lot but someone could buy this to add to their complexion products if they have one that has the right undertones but they just need it darker. There could be a use for this. I also wonder if it could be a contour shade for those with the darkest of skin tones?

Honestly, if you can’t do diverse shades right then just don’t do them. At this point we have so many foundations out there that you’ll find your shade in whatever finish you like somewhere. I’m *extremely* pale with weird greenish undertones and have been disappointed that a foundation everyone likes doesn’t have my shade, but I have a go to that matches perfectly. Not everything is gonna be made for everyone, and companies trying to force inclusion is making them come out with terrible products like this. Either due to their heart not being in it or, and most likely in this case, racism. Which is why they didn’t include the diverse shade range in the first place.

I’m into gothic makeup and I see the black foundation as something useful and im pretty sure even some cosplayers agree For me i use black face paint to black out my neck and I think having a foundation for that would be great, I used to buy some from sunset makeup but I saw some allegations about the product being drop shipping and all that so I stopped. But the way they marketed this product is so wrong, it seems like they wanted to make it seem as a real skin tone when it’s just black, the concept of black foundation is good if it’s promoted as a colorful foundation and not a skin tone same for a pure white foundation
@itzginny79515 ай бұрын
I saw this for when someone was pancaking their pointe shoes, it’s perfect for that cause as it has no undertones but my first thought when seeing the results was how weird it was that a foundation had literally no undertones. And it’s marketed as a foundation for dark skin, as supposed to cosplay or straight up pure black.
@Hazerot4 ай бұрын
The biggest problem with this whole scandal isnt that they made a foundation that was just black and expected black people to be fine with but it was actually the amount of people who went out of their way to mock, shame, and criticize black people for calling out the company as if we should be expected to be grateful of what is literally a mockery of our biology.
@rottingarchangeloi27344 ай бұрын
Every artist that learned the basics about mixing coulours can tell you that mixing undertones like yellow, red, green or blue into your main shade is essential to make realistic looking skin. People have cool shades, others have warmer shades or neutral shades. Same goes for black people. There’s black people that have a more warmer skin tone and there’s also black people with colder skin tones or neutral ones. The main difference is literally how light the skin is. You can’t just put out black graphite face paint and expect no complains. That’s just malicious compliance on thier end.

it's actually sad. i live in a country where although rare, dark skinned people exist. @snufkingstan4 ай бұрын
as an artist the explanation of it just being a mixing color is not good either. not only are their foundations very expensive, but the entire concept of color theory gets thrown out the window. when it comes to mixing skin tones, you usually dont want to just use black because that neutralizes the undertones, making it look muddier. some people might have a skin tone that requires mixing black, but it’s generally recommended to use the complimentary color to darken something, or a darker version of the color you’re working with. for example, if im making a warm toned piece, i would use something like red to shade skin with an orange undertone. if i were making something more cool-toned, i would use purple to shade skin with a yellow undertone. this argument so poorly researched

If a group of shades isn't making money within the brand, it's totally understandable that they don't make it. It's just a matter of efficiency. Why not instead push the people who share dark skin color to set up a cosmetic company that make only dark to darkest shades complexion products? That way, you get to steal the market for the dark skinned people.
