This was such a cool experiment! Good to know it doesn't really make a difference lol. What if you tried posting a video that was monetized at first and then turn off monetization when views are a bit more stable? I'd like to see if that video's performance changes after that. You can also compare it to your channel's average performance.

Like you said in the end, it probably doesn't make a difference. However, for me personally, my overall channel performance actually started going down a little. I assume it's because my audience is towards younger people and they tend to be more susceptible to clicking off when ads are shown before the content. Though in general, it doesn't hurt too much and interesting videos will make people stay, so in the long run you might as well get those sweet bucks from the days you spend on editing.

Mine too - I had a pretty sharp rise up to monetization and it's slowed to a steady amount of new subs, and actually fewer views. But I think it had more to do with crypto winter and the resulting fewer searches on my topic rather than the monetization (but hard to know!).

I think switching off non-skippable ads, and ads at the beginning of the video will increase the views a lot. Pre-video ads make audience sometimes click away.

To answer the revenue question, it really depends on the channel content and format. A longform financial video with 75% views monetized would be around $1.2m where a gaming channel might make $100-200k A short could be around $50k and if you monetize it through affiliates/sponsorhips you could be looking at multiple millions on top.

For your information Rob, KZbin does only start showing ads on non-monetized channels on videos that pass the 100 views mark, everything below won't have any ads. I've tested this with this channel more than enough. If you have a monetized channel you can show ads on videos with any view count though.

Yeah, that is right, we were doing all ours thumbnail with the "no ads" sign on them, but as soon as the any video rich the 100 mark the ads starts showing on the videos :(

0:15 Here’s my answer to the question: 100 million views can get you quite a lot of money. It heavily depends on the videos, though. With shorts, you probably get a few dollars (+ maybe a few thousands dollars with Shorts Bonus) But with videos that are over a minute long, you can get over $100,000. If your video is over 8 minutes long, you could maybe even get $300,000 with it, maybe even more. So yeah, that’s my answer to the question :)

@@nextis2641 Look, I’m not gonna argue with you. But, I can guarantee large creators are NOT the only people who are having success with shorts. Large creators might have bigger shorts views but they’ve learned what makes something go viral. They had to learn all of that stuff just like us. Took Jimmy (MrBeast) years to find out how to make a viral video, but once he did it skyrocketed. And even the short VidIQ posted gives another great point, a TikTok creator uploaded 752 videos(something like that) and had no success. But, the 753rd went viral and he blew up! Content and consistency is king.

Monetization didn't help one of our channels. We had up to 75k views per day while we were trying to monetize (it was a difficult process for us and we were rejected 5 times). Right after we monetized our channel, our views started going down (we didn't add any commercials in the middle of our videos). Right now, 1 month after monetization, our views are only 20k per day. 🤷‍♀️

Strange that I have seen some channels go WAYY up in views and subs consistently once they became monetized. I also have seen other channels NOT go up that much at all doing the same thing. If you know someone good with statistics, a way to analyze the data would be a "difference in differences" test. Basically, you'd find the difference in views before and after monetization for the videos you monetized and the difference in views over the same time period for videos that you never monetized and then see if there's a difference between the two groups of videos to rule out channel growth, seasonality, etc as explanations for your views.

That makes sense. If you can monetize your content, that means your channel is working. If you monetize a video, you probably spent extra effort on it then it is likely that it will overperform your previous video. And since KZbin is here to make money, they print these videos a little more !

If your channel is already monetized or nearing monetization and your channel is growing then this is more useful than it is for a channel like mine that isn't monetized, isn't growing, and is losing views on a daily basis. It's been fun uploading videos for seven years but it's time for me to move on from KZbin, play video games that the algorithm doesn't care about but I enjoy playing, and not waste my time with titles, thumbnails, editing, etc. It's just not worth the time and effort anymore for me. I've made below average content for seven years and have no one to blame for my lack of growth or monetization other than myself. Whether by choice or circumstances, things don't always work out the way we want in life and at some point we have to let go and move on. I feel like the idea that monetization affects views may be a psychological difference more than a statistical one. A view that's making someone money may subconsciously feel more important than a view that doesn't. Plus being monetized creates that extra incentive to put more work into video quality, which would naturally pay off in more views.

I'm glad it doesn't effect the total amount of views a video can get, if it was true, that would've been incredibly unfair, I understand that they are business but giving authority to monitized channels over channels that haven't got there yet is just wrong. Great test and information. I personally noticed my views per day, suggested videos, etc. jump once I was monetized. Obviously, KZbin is in the business to make money so it stands to reason they might put more effort into larger monetized channels. For smaller channels working hard to monetize it's a struggle because KZbin really doesn't push their content. They can deny the claim but it's the truth.

I've read somewhere that the amount of money the video makes depends on the duration of the video. KZbinrs earn tons more money if the video is longer than 8 or 10 minutes. I heard it also depends on your niche.

How much time does KZbin generally take to review a channel for monetization in 2022? Mine is stuck for 5 days. 😵😵😵

My channel definitely saw a huge uptake in views when I monetised (but I also slightly change niches), so it's hard to tell if it was all to do with getting yt partner... buuut I think it is a factor

If you have a “monetized channel” can you make a little bit of “every niche”? or does your “channel” have to dedicate to only one niche??,...🤔
