This is pretty ridiculous. I’d bet that a lot of Ivy League students use similar external tutoring services since the course load is so heavy and deadlines are so demanding. In the end, Princeton is probably trying to make an example out of you since you have a following, and every student that watches this video will have that fear in the back of their minds now. More failing students equals more repeated classes and more money for the institutions...uni is a business after all. It’s pretty disgusting, and I’m glad you haven’t been reprimanded too harshly.

the Ivy League prejudice isn’t a strong case for making the argument. i agree with your message fully, but students at any level of secondary education face the same deadlines, workload, and level of stress that comes with that
@tomcheng6605 жыл бұрын
Grant Giorgi Yes, I agree, thanks for pointing that out. I should’ve worded my original comment to be more inclusive. I targeted the Ivy League specifically because it’s infamous for the stress it causes students.

I think an argument that could be said for princeton is that they themselves have enough resources to offer comprehensive tutoring services within the university (which I'm sure they already do). The implication is that anything more than that is basically a company just giving you answers or perhaps a luxury service that disadvantages those who can't afford it, adding to the income-achievement gap.
@Nxrth20015 жыл бұрын
Wait a second, youre basically not allowed to have someone other than your college teachers teach you? Thats hilarious. My teachers are crap, my entire college uses external tutoring and KZbin to study.
@jinsonglei31855 жыл бұрын
So tutoring is kinda illegal at Ivy League schools? That is ridiculous!!! I mean even for smart students, they may still need extra guidance to study and prepare for the exams. To me, tutoring is as normal as eating breakfast.
@f.p.54105 жыл бұрын
I don't know, you're paying to get as much tutoring as you need, there is no need for additional tutoring. But their decision makes sense. You could technically go to Princeton and complete all the assignments with online tutoring. You'd get a degree that you didn't really work for and they obviously don't want that, it would be bad from a reputational perspective.
@Nxrth20015 жыл бұрын
@@f.p.5410 That makes no sense. How are you supposed to answer the assignment questions if you dont understand the content? I go to one of the best colleges in my country, and everybody uses external tutoring, both offline and online.
@f.p.54105 жыл бұрын
@@Nxrth2001 they can just ask their professors for help. For what they pay, I'd better hope the professors are going to walk them through the tricky passages. Also, many top universities want students to learn teamwork in order to solve difficult problems, so they can just ask their classmates until they get to a solution. If everybody uses external tutoring maybe your college isn't that good at explaining stuff.
@GlamGoddes1015 жыл бұрын
a lot of colleges have internal tutoring programs so I’m guessing that’s what students at Princeton use, but yea tutoring is completely normal for everyone & I sort of think this is sort of a silly rule

It is very sad to see that Princeton probated its student just based on this little tiny matter. Students need help, and universities may not be able to accommodate every student’s needs. I strongly believe that students should be able to seek for external help as long as they are not plagiarizing.

"she always cheats at cards" 2. to avoid (something undesirable) by luck or skill. "she cheated death in a spectacular crash" Him giving answers doesn’t make him a cheater. I’m solely going off of your comment because I haven’t finished the video. However, you clearly invented your own definition which is incorrect.

@@thefantasticdrpickles The person complaining about cheating is clearly talking about it in this context (aka Nic used tutoring services and cheated). Why is everyone overlooking the fact that he promoted a service he never even used? Yes he makes great videos and the whole policy of not being able to access external tutoring services is a scam, but this really exemplifies how influencers tend to accept sponsorships deals just for their own financial gain and not because they really use the product or website themselves (like he claimed)

Tbh external tutor services like the brand he featured that past vid really helped me a lot during my chemistry classes back in uni. I really find it hard to understand the concepts. Professors really dont help a lot when it comes to explaining it cuz they teach it in a way THEY would understand not in a way that the STUDENTS will understand it. So yea I sometimes use this kind of tutoring service, cuz I understand it more. I think professors in particular should device learning techniques that will better reach the students and not just ppl of the same level or intellectual as they have.

I have to say I am always amazed by your level of self-awareness and I think it has really helped you this time round being able to see it from the uni’s perspective and balance it with your own. On the other hand, I think it brings to light how some uni students are really struggling to find the correct aid and that it’s easy to resort in external tutoring service. I think this really is a lesson learnt for uni students, the uni and yourself. Hope now that your are more at ease you can keep the great content going!

I’m sorry but what they did was absolutely unacceptable and is extremely telling of the administration’s character. The fact that there was ANY sort of reprimand for a student simply receiving outside help because there was something they did not understand is completely inexplicable. The student did not cheat, they did not plagiarize, and they simply told others about a service that had helped them understand something. This is just unacceptable of an institution of Princeton’s prestige and since I can’t do much about it, I sincerely hope Princeton students petition this incredibly unfair and illogical rule. -A person who needed tutoring
