Thing is, in this case, she really is trying to follow a recipe. However, the numpty who wrote the recipe used the word 'blend' when they meant 'mix'. The recipe doesn't state 'in a blender' at all, but Kay still thought 'blend' means 'blender'. I'd hate to see how she applies makeup, considering most tutorials tell you to 'blend' different types of makeup on your face.

I think what happened is that she was attempting to make some sort of fish cake. But, she did it... backwards. What you're supposed to do is blend the RAW fish with salt and egg to kinda bind it, then add your seasonings and flour, THEN fry them or cook them in stock. Hence, the ice cubes she added. This is to keep the temperature low to keep the fish from cooking from the heat of the processor's blades. She needs someone to teach her how to do things, because she is trying! She's just not very good at it

I make fish paste. Well, its a paste made of fish. I made some out of tilapia tonight and I made it like you would eat tuna with mayo...only I used tilapia and its a paste, not chunky. "fish paste" as an entree like you would order in a restaurant, sure, there is a solid recipe. But if you are just making a fish paste, none of the other stuff is necessary, not even a recipe. If you can cook, you can throw things together that suit your craving at the time that is safe and nutritious lol.. I cook my fish first, its easy to cook thoroughly rather than trying to get the puree cooked. I didnt use an egg or flour. I fried the fish, pureed it, set it aside, whipped up some garlic and herb cream cheese with mayo, mixed it together well after adding pepper and garlic and herb seasoning, and then mixed in the tilapia. Its delicious. The recipe is how you want to freaking make it. I do variations of that depending on the flavor I want and my mood, and I do that with chicken as well. I am working on red meats that way too, I am getting teeth pulled and want something the consistency of baby food. I am not doing it wrong or backwards. Its deliberate, intentional, its on purpose. Its how I want it. Recipe be damned.

That *is* a somewhat "traditional" dish here in the UK, but the problem is, she has made the dish and then failed to cook it. You are supposed to flash fry the ball (more commonly a patty, but you can do it in a ball if you want) in oil to crisp the outside, then bake it to cook through. What she's essentially done is the equivalent to making a hamburger patty, forgetting to cook it, and then just eating it raw and wondering why it tastes weird.

Fish paste is fish which has been chemically broken down by a fermentation process until it reaches the consistency of a soft creamy purée or paste. To make fish paste, select white fish with very firm meat. Pollock or cod work well. Along with good arrowroot starch they make excellent chewy fish paste. Arrowroot starch, and not cornstarch, should be used. All ingredients should also be kept at a very cold temperature. Ice cubes should be used during blending to keep the temperature low. Fish paste can be formed into balls and added to hot pot, soups, or steamed fish bowls. Or, it can be shaped into patties and fried. Fried fish cakes can be served with chili-lime dip or used as a topping for noodles. Fish paste can also be stuffed into vegetables like eggplant, bitter melon, or tofu, and then pan-fried. Or, it can be stir-fried with vegetables like eggplant, zucchini, or squash. Finally, Fish paste can be mixed into hot pot or steamboat. Bon Appétit

As an Englishman, I’ll explain, fish paste is a sort of pasty goo that is typically spread on sandwiches, they are usually sold in very small jars in supermarkets (One jar = One Sandwich), there is also chicken and beef pastes (There might be others but I haven’t seen them). We don’t typically put them on pasta and we definitely don’t make them at home, they’re typically so cheap that it costs way more to do it homemade

I mean, there is a fish farce. For which you take raw fish, commonly salmon, cream, and ice and blitz it up for a few minutes to get it super smooth. The whole paste is then usually poached. It can also be used for filling sausages

Everything is unsafe. I’ve been eating raw homemade cookie dough all my life… as most people have… and are fine. The % chance, I have a feeling, is insanely low. Because I don’t know 1 kid who didn’t grow up eating cookie dough… and none are gone. I’ll take those odds. lol.

I’ll say it again; IDK 1 person who didn’t have raw cookie dough as a child, or still throughout their life… and they are all fine. Also, I know plenty of people who drink raw eggs for protein before a work out. All still fine. There’s nothing to worry about at all regardless, bruh. Let them eat cookie dough! Cheers!

Ive heard about eggs but never flour i mean i cant have flour anymore but as a kid i would eat flower on a spoon with sugar when waiting for my grandparents to bake muffins for me id occationally also eat the batter if there was any left But i am not american and we can eat raw eggs here no issue so mabye its a product issue? idk this is intresting though! or mabye thats why i cant have flour anymore 😂

It culd have been nice, mix the fish with spices and a little lemon in the blender, panko and fry golden brown cook the Tagliatelle for less than 3h, mix with olive oil and fresh garlic and some parsley . Done

It’s not a dish. The fish paste in uk is just a sandwich spread. We get chicken and beef paste too. Fish paste is normally made from salmon. None of the pastes sold in uk are fermented.

I really like that August is quite respectful of our Kay. Some people are not. There are a lot of us English folk for some reason we will acknowledge that her recipes are very bad and will roast her but somehow have this sense of protectiveness of her when other people do. This is an English sticking together with English. You won’t find me standing up for Kier Starmer. There is just something about our Kay.

Okay, to be fair to her... once I was visiting Europe and I try to always eat something from the countries I'm visiting in to expand my experiences and my palate. So I ordered something that could be best described as 'deep fried fish paste'--we were visiting Denmark, I'm pretty sure (on a boat in the North Sea above Germany.) Her cooking looks better than that dish. ....but I still wouldn't eat it.

We eat a lot of fish paste here in the UK especially in England because our teeth are really bad and most people are unable to chew ....(Beavo anyone) Tbh most people eat fish paste in a sandwich with cucumber for afternoon tea which is common practise in most homes around 5pm while watching The Chase 👍
