I have always done a mix between easy videos and videos that took about an hour a minute. To really get my channel going I committed to uploading a helpful video each day. I'm a Math and Science channel so some videos were just solving Math problems, but I learned so much uploading often and I know it helped with my channel success. Just reached 500k subs. 😊 I'm always trying to learn something new and this was a helpful video. Thanks

What I have noticed is once I changed to a natural thumbnail with no words, not craziness just a screen shot of the video and most times picking from one of three YT chose has made a huge difference. My channel exploded within the last month once I got a little more personal and kept it real from thumbnails, tirles and videos. In the last 2 weeks I gained over 10k subs and have almost a millon views. Engagement has grown and finally now having subs check and come back everyday for the latest vlog. I have seen several other channels have that same success in short spams. People are longing for real. Even after having 1 video go viral and land on the trending page 2 weeks ago I was worried it would be a one and done but I stuck with the plan and it has panned out and continues to help me grow every day.

So I got onto your channel and I see that you have 163,000 subscribers. Yet your videos do not get very many views. The video I’m watching right now has 1300 views and you uploaded it yesterday.I have 1/10 of the subscribers that you do but I get 10 times the number of views. Why do you think that’s happening? I’m being very serious because as I’m growing I’m trying to get a handle on viewer behavior. Thanks.

You got it my friend! My most recent 5 videos, I was authentic instead of over producing. Left in mistakes and made little jokes out of them. And just let the human side of me show with all imperfections. They are what grew the channel! It wasn't that I wasn't being authentic previously. But rather it's more of I was over producing. Cutting all imperfections and adding too much to cover other things up. My dad was the one that watched one of my video and said it's too fast. And too much going on I can't follow it. Then recently when I talked to him again he said you've come an extremely long way. Now I understand all your videos. Sure enough when I took a deep dive into the data I saw similar reaction from the rest of my audience. Over producing = less views on my videos Imperfect authenticity = grew the channel the most.

Thank you for all you do Brian. Is 1,122 daily views in a 28 day period decent for a small product review channel? It seems like it is to me, but I really do not have anything to compare it to. I'm gaining a few subscribers here and there but still need about 182 to reach 1k subs. I am conducting a little test on the number of videos I release. I had been releasing one video every day in July and August, in September I released one video every other day and here in October I am releasing two a day. I have missed a one or two over the months, but I don't think one or two throughout the month would affect the results in a major way. From what I am seeing, the twice a day has increased the views by about 300 or so daily. By the way, thank you for the different angle, you helped answer a question I asked a couple of videos ago 🙂

Those are your results my friend. The only thing that matters is your results. They’re great results at that. Take pride and what you do and along the way you can surely improve. Yesterday, I went KZbin easy mode because I only had about an hour to make a video. But I'm not being entirely honest; let me explain. It took less than 90 minutes to film and edit a review video yesterday, but that's not the whole story. The truth is, I spent about 30 minutes writing the review while waiting at the doctor's office (just got shingles!). And that's not all! All the information for the review came from weeks of on-the-field testing of the product and learning about it. So, was it really KZbin easy mode? Now, I could have spent days filming the review and editing it, but here's where I went full KZbin easy mode: I opened the video with me on camera, then I told the viewers, "I'm just going to get behind the camera, walk you thru the boat and read what I wrote because it was epic, and you guys deserve to hear it." Dude, easy mode for sure! I read, stayed on track, and even made fun of my own writing! The result? Almost one take, with few cuts... Of course, that would have been the case if I hadn't had my fingers covering half the camera lens! I had to super zoom and add b-roll to cover it up, but in the end, I finished the whole thing in less than 90 minutes, from shooting to release.

I think you need a lot of skill to pull of that easy mode. I mean, talking to a camera for several minutes without too much "uhmmm", or other filler words and without searching for the right words all the time, while still making a coherent story is an impressive skill. I know for sure I can't do that yet. I use easy mode version 2.0. I record about 3-5 sentences with the help of a teleprompter and glue all those recordings together with zooming in, zooming out, B-Roll and title screens. It might take me a bit more time to do that for one video but that is still easy mode in my book.

Finally just got it. You said that Pewdi Pie got famous by playing different scenes of the same game and he hooked his audience. You also mentioned about Niching down. Well what had just occurred to me is this. You talk about KZbin a lot, Daniel Battle always talks about Devincie Resolve, You guys are doing the same thing Pewdi Pie did, You niched down into something that is very interesting to people, as for you how to do things on KZbin, as for Daniel "Davinci Resolve" and teaching people something about it, talking about the same thing's over and over but just wording it in a different way, and solving problems for people. Everyone wants to become a KZbinr, so it is a trending topic. Wow right in front of my nose and I didn't even realize it. I also learned form you, not to put hashtags in the videos because of people clicking on them and going away from your videos. I have been doing this for a long time, now I am going to quit, and to make your video title with some of the keywords of your description, and content, and to most of all have a good thumbnail. @BriangjohnsonTv2 ай бұрын
honestly, my friend I think you absolutely can cut corners with the content you publish. It’s just understanding what corners to cut. For example if you’re always shooting in a different location, you’re going to spend more time trying to figure out how to make it look good. If you’re spending tons of time trying to perfect three thumbnails for thumbnail testing that might not be as effective as publishing another video. instead. It’s really about breaking things down and practicing communicating on camera to achieve the success. Don’t get me wrong. I’ve scripted a lot of videos. And they’ve done very well. But I’ve also published a lot of videos where I’ve literally just got a few bullet points and they’ve also done well. It’s understanding that the only thing we need to succeed is to publish a video that viewers find helpful.

I just watched one of your videos and it has so much Brohl and cuts and editing and that’s really powerful and I’ve done that as well with great effect. But what if you were able to literally sit down and talk about some new products. Or new ideas about your particular niche. I think overtime those videos could do well too and you’d be saving time and publishing more. Hope these ideas help. These comments have been voice dictated.

@@BriangjohnsonTv Thanks for the reply! Just voicing a little frustration, there has to be space for channels that can't churn out 2 videos a week. All but one of my benchmark channels in the hobby space have gone to once every two weeks, or longer between videos. But I get your point about supplying value with less effort.

You said it took a while to reach your own authenticity. How much did it take? After how many videos you finally get your authentic self took control and become automatic?
@BriangjohnsonTv2 ай бұрын
It’s an evolving thing overtime. I’ll talk about authenticity more in an upcoming video. I’ve already published some videos on the subject. It’s really about just finding the version of yourself that is authentic and still focused on connecting with an audience. For example, when you show up to an job interview, that’s a different view that would show up to hang hang out with your friends. They’re both authentic. So testing different things on KZbin while being yourself is super helpful.

@@BriangjohnsonTv it's been a year now I'm doing KZbin videos and i tested slow speech, fast, loud, silent, prompter, improvised etc etc. Still testing but I'm still at 1300 subs. Discouraged these days. Maybe i can switch to English content. Do you recommend me changing to English?
@BriangjohnsonTv2 ай бұрын
I would focus first on the language you’re most comfortable with. Choosing one very specific niche that you understand and you’re excited about and then make videos in that same niche again and again. That’s gonna give you the best chance to connect with viewers.

I’m gonna be honest with you, my friend. This kind of comment is not about the video. It’s about your promotion and it’s annoying. I’m not gonna ban you from my channel this time but next time I’m gonna. And again no hate just sharing the truth because other channel creators might not be so kind. I hope you see this message.

I agree with Brian, your comments are self-promotion and it's really annoying!

Your chanel is actually good, but I won't sub, because this is just an ad.

I'm going to try this. I'm trying to get to 1K subs. It TRULY is the hardest miles stone. Not the first 100 subs.

Most of this advice is not relevant for me. I create piano tutorials. I still like watching them.
