I doubt poaching will be a problem for youtube, remember when Ninja was poached to Mixer from Twitch? Its not the individuals but the community that can foster new creators and ideas that a lot of other platforms will need to build up from scratch.

Very well-done and well thought out video! I agree completely with everything you say. I wish so much that there was a publicly funded form of KZbin...where it’s all just funded by the federal government and donations like PBS, NPR, etc. It would be so easy to set up, and would give a place for people to share public videos and earn money, but without the huge influence of advertising and profit every step of the way.

Might be an interesting topic for a future video! I'd have to research how realistic/beneficial a government program like that would be. In my experience, the government is bad at making technology work, and good at not being profitable 😂

@@TylerF it doesn’t need to be profitable-all they have to do is set up the infrastructure and scale it as needed. They only need to fund an organization that will do it, just like they did with the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which funds PBS and NPR. They have no 21st Century equivalent. Also, the postal service has been wildly successful! The only reason it sucks right now is because it is greatly weighed down financially by terrible legislation that requires FULL funding of every new employee’s entire pension at the time of hire, which is NOT expected anywhere else, and it is also prevented from any executive innovations (look into what the postal service equivalent does in Germany) that would easily make it a ton more efficient-again because of restrictive legislation. Congress is the USPS’s biggest problem. Also there are the Tennessee Valley Authority and the Colorado Valley Authority that manage many hydroelectric dams that provide extremely inexpensive electricity to the surrounding regions. The government can be plenty efficient when it’s allowed to be run that way, rather than being used as a political pawn to make it look better to privatize national resources. Another more local example is the Ohio Turnpike Commission. Governor Kasich studied leading it the way Indiana did with its toll road, and decided it was run too efficiently for a lease to be profitable for any private company, and instead decided to just raise tolls and plow the profits into pet road projects all across the state. When agencies are properly funded and run by professionals instead of political appointees, government does a lot of things much more efficiently and inexpensively than private enterprise. Private enterprise has plenty of inefficiency itself-for example, compare waste from private health insurance companies to Medicare and Medicaid, two other very well run government agencies.

Nailed it bro btw I will disagree with adding podcasts to KZbin music . I would be good if it will be separate app . Because it won't be messy like Spotify had
@TylerF

That's a good perspective! As a Spotify user, It's just my opinion that podcasts fit well on the platform. Also, Joe Rogan's podcast seems to be adding a lot of value to the Spotify, but maybe that's just in the short term. We'll have to see what happens long term.

Thank you so much for saying this! I have a big year coming as well! I might only be at 179 subs, but I think I've got what I need to grow. I have a strong content strategy prepared, and my goal is 10,000 subs by the end of the year. My next two videos will launch this next month, and by the end of the year I should have ~18 videos on my channel. We'll check in this time next year!

Funnily, KZbin is doing a whole lot of *bad* things both for viewers and creators recently, so there is *definitely* room for someone with much better.. everything?

If they can operate at the same scale or bigger AND keep their operating costs in check. Also, unlike Redditors, normal people actually LIKE algorithms that predict what they would like watching, which is no surprise considering TikTok was able to take a sizeable chunk of KZbin’s market with its superior algorithm.
