I've been supporting and following your channel for several years now and I enjoy your content. I've been in and and around KZbin for 15 years and to a point i agree with what you are saying there are several KZbinrs/ channels who spend a ridiculous amount of money on pyshical media $400-$600 per month obviously it's known of my business on how they spend money, but im sure we can find a better to be smart with our money. Some individuals are dealing with F.O.M.O fear of missing out. I've been a pyshical media collector since the days V.H.S etc... i only collect DVD's and Blu Rays.... again i agree with what you are saying about the amount of money they spend is a bit ridiculous. I have a modest size collection but yes i don't need to own every movie, boxset that comes out.

Yes I remember you commenting on my vids many times. Appreciate the support! I myself can spend a ridiculous amount of money but I try to at least get my money's worth. But also, I need to sell stuff and be more strict about what I buy. There's absolutely a fomo aspect. It's smart to have a modest collection.

You should bring back the coffee talk videos I enjoyed those . As for this one ... good points talked about. Speaking for myself I never fit in with any communities! It’s been that way my whole life. I’ve seen that they don’t work . There are always people who compete with each other and a lot of nastiness . Being someone who just has a dvd collection I am excluded by many of the KZbin movie communities. As I’ve said many times in many peoples comments I have no intention to upgrade , I’m happy with what I have, I don’t need the latest and greatest ! I’d say 80% of my DVDs are secondhand. I also watch my DVDs as I stopped watching the actual TV about 15 years ago so my collection doesn’t just sit on my shelves I’m constantly watching them . We can only watch so many in our lifetimes and thinking they are going to be worth something in years to come , they aren’t! Neither are Funko Pops etc , I got caught up in the TY Beanie Babies collecting thinking like that and guess what?.... yep I’ve still got a huge storage tub full of them and when I do manage to sell one it’s about £5 if I’m lucky , not the hundreds and thousands I was led to believe at the time ! So I guess what I’m thinking is don’t buy movies you don’t want or like just because you’ve heard or read somewhere they might be worth a fortune , buy them because you like them and will watch them and get enjoyment from them.

It seems like these talks are what gets the views lol. As far as dvds vs blurays. It got to the point here where I could get blus cheaper than dvds due to being able to sell the digital codes. I also see a large step up from dvd to blu-ray where as I don't see it as much with 4k, only on particular titles that got a weak blu-ray transfer. I never really understood the funko pops thing. They seem pretty dumb.

I've always appreciated you perspective, Pmac. I'd suggest, make vids when you're feeling it. I agree, addictions come in many forms, including spending money, getting something tangible, enjoying the brief stimulation from unboxing new movies, only to have that feeling dissipate, and dealing with the need to repeat the cycle. It's vicious, man. The worst feeling to succumb to is FOMO. Most recently, Vinegar Syndrome sold 12,000 4K copies of The Keep. Some collectors are very upset because they missed out on the slippy edition, so they're buying this title for $180 on eBay. It's quite sad and can lead to deeper issues.

Yeah it's definitely a vicious cycle. I can't imagine paying that much for one movie. Damn.

I watch this thing unfold from the very beginning. You’re completely correct cover. Steve is definitely satire. And for the other two KZbinrs that take what he says personal, they need to back up and rethink what they’re doing. Slip covers Steve is doing it for Clickbait and then, Sue is trying to get the sympathy for sure. A lot of us, however, are thinking the same thing about her. He wasn’t completely off with his comments however I do believe that all of this is for Clickbait. It makes you want to unsubscribe to certain individuals and stop following them. We have to be realand we have to because our community is going to suffer if we don’t. Obviously, there’s addictions in everything when it comes to collecting it doesn’t matter what you collect. We need to support each other. Call out the bullshit and adults about it. Thank you for the upload.

these bigger channels know they can turn an "enemy" into sympathy and make themselves look more "honest" and as the "victim" and such. I think Steve is pretty funny but it does kind of get old and repetitive.

Maybe I should start making physical media videos again. Your perspective is perfect. Upgrading isn’t always necessary and most times and older version of something is just fine. First and foremost, it's worth noting that KZbin recommended this video to me. So, while I certainly understand the frustration of dealing with KZbin's algorithm (I too run a KZbin channel, so I get it), clearly your video is being recommended to some people. Beyond that, I feel like this video is extremely telling, and will hopefully be instructive if you ever choose to revisit it in the future (perhaps when you have a different head space). Your video clearly comes from a very frustrated perspective, but there are some red flags throughout your rant that suggest that you might be bringing some of this on yourself. Your tone is calm (for the first half, at least), yet weirdly passive aggressive. From the opening moments (KZbin's algorithm) to complaining that you've been blocked on social media by others in the community, you are coming at this from a perspective of being a victim. Yet, the longer you talk, the clearer it becomes that you are making the situation worse with your actions. Example: You mention that you've been blocked for leaving comments that don't insult or name-call. Yet, as you explain the issue you have with them, it becomes clear what kind of message you actually left. A lot of your complaint boils down to you judging others. You criticizing what they spend their money on or even how much money they allocate towards the hobby. You try to take the high ground by speaking out for those with spending addiction, suggesting that people in the movie community are at fault and contributing to the problem. If this is the kind of content you're posting on other people's videos, then it's no wonder they don't want to interact with you. Nobody likes to be judged or made to feel like their hobbies are bad. Nobody likes when somebody self-righteously gets on a soap box and accuses them of being bad for the community (and potentially making things terrible for people with addictions). I don't care how politely you word that, you're still going to come off as a massive jerk. The problem you keep running into is that a lot of this is none of your business. If somebody spent $100 on a movie they really wanted and you feel that's far too much, I guarantee that they are not looking for your judgment. They don't need you to worry about their finances. You shouldn't spend a single second wasting time worrying about their retirement or (potential) car repairs. There's a point where where you start equating the "movie community" with muggers and aggressive attack dogs, and you wonder why they block you. You come across as being very bitter and judgmental, and for no reason. None of this affects you. You're fighting a losing war and then complaining that you're losing. As somebody who is being introduced to your channel through this video, I have to say that it makes me not want to watch the rest. This is a bad look, and I suspect that it contributes to your problem growing the channel. I wish you the best of luck and hope that this constructive criticism helps.
@PMacMovies3 күн бұрын
that's quite a comment there. I am interested in this topic but I am not "very" frustrated about it or "bitter." I give minimal energy to it. I think that it is an interesting topic so I am discussing it. Other people who have followed my channel don't seem to have the same take on it as you. You watched one video and came up with all of that.
@evanw75385 күн бұрын
You're kind of contradicting yourself a bit here. You say that people should look out for themselves, but you also seem to think that other channels shouldn't hype up a cool release because they may influence some idiot with zero self control to buy it when they maybe can't afford it. Who cares? We don't structure our lives around and cater to the dumbest people that may or may not be listening.
@PMacMovies3 күн бұрын
the big corporations are really taking advantage of everyone in this situation. The people getting the freebies are (to certain degree) manipulating and taking advantage of the people they are pushing the movies to, many of which shouldn't be spending new release prices on these things. And then you have the people buying them that aren't really in a financial decision to be doing so.

I couldn’t even sit through half of this video, but it’s amusing that you chose to sit in front of your giant wall of movies to ramble about this. For starters, it’s super cliche and beaten to death in the KZbin “movie community,” and it’s also a perfect illustration of the obnoxious excess you’re yammering about, whether intentionally or not. People spend waaayyy too much time flaunting their collections and complaining about their goofy-ass first world problems. This is equally true in the “vinyl community” and probably every other community of collectors. People’s desperation for attention and validation can manifest itself in really obvious, predictable ways. I guess what I’m saying is that part of your message is getting lost in the presentation for me, and that literally any other backdrop might have been a better choice. 🤷♂️
