Always enjoy your content and always enjoy your professionalism and delivery. Although we don't exactly agree or have the same taste in some of these titles, directors, or actors. I know you have an appreciation for Guy Richie stuff. I have to say, the mention of his name is a deal breaker for me. I've tried a few of his movies and just can't stand them at all. Emile Hirsch is another example. I know you like his work, but I don't get him at all. I don't despise him like Guy Richie, but there's a quality with Emile that I just can't get past. Its almost like I can't see him as the character. If he's in a movie, I see Emile Hirsch and not the character he's supposed to be. It takes me out of any movie he's in. As far as 1408 goes, this should have been a terrifying movie. Unfortunately, it plays off as a soft horror movie with a made for tv feel. I think it does this for a few reasons. One being the art direction. This movie is too bright and colorful. Even its dark scenes are still luminous....if that's the right word to use. It just fails on atmosphere because of the art direction. Secondly, it came out in a time where cgi was being used more and more, but probably wasn't ready for market yet. In other words, the cgi is not good here and doesn't do the movie any favors. Another reason is John Cusack. I like John Cusack's work, generally, but he was the wrong casting choice for this movie. I don't think horror is his thing. The same goes for Samuel L Jackson. The casting of these two stole from any atmosphere as they are too notable for this type of movie. All I saw was John Cusack and not a guy working out his demons. I know people like 1408, but I can't ever consider it a serious piece of the horror genre.

Love your channel! I'm an offshore sailing instructor. I don't expect your average layperson to understand that "All is Lost" is an infuriatingly stupid movie where he does absolutely every thing wrong from a sailing and safety perspective. After watching it the first time, I had PTSD, but powered through it to record 93 things he did wrong, which anyone who is sailing offshore should know. Sorry, just had to vent...

An interesting little factoid not mentioned is that _Outlander_ is *obviously* based on Beowulf. Which is why, even as a SF variant of the classic epic, it freaking rocks. John Hurt as the Viking chieftain and Sofia Myles are also really good in it. Thanks for the list though. I'll have to check out some of these movies.

I was going to mention this because in the epics Beowulf was an outsider in the hall he helped with Grendel, back in the 5th century abroad was for most folk like outer space was to us and the Angles that wrote the stories had travelled from Denmark to East Anglia which must have felt like travelling to the Moon did to us in the 60s.

Prospect was amazing. It contains some of the most meticulous dialog I've ever seen. The speech patterns and words used are all mid 19th century America. It creates this feeling of familiarity and strangeness at the same time.

ok, the thing about King Arthur is that the entire blame for its failure at the box office can be put on the marketing team. all the trailers showed it as a grounded bio-pic of the life of Arthur before and after pulling the sword with absolutely no mention of the fantasy elements of it whatsoever. so the people looking for that grounded story were let down and said it was bad and the people that would have wanted to see some high fantasy action (me) passed on it. I saw it months later only because a friend of mine was watching it and I thought it was awesome.

I also found 3 out of the movies that are in my top 5 of all time for free on KZbin! Blood In Blood Out, Trick or Treat (the 80s one) and Sid and Nancy. I’m not promising great quality, but they’re all free and all three of them are so under appreciated when they are so so dear to my heart 💜

1408 is FREAKING AWESOME. I've watched it a bazillion times. There is not one single scene or element of that movie that is wasted. For me, it's just a perfect movie. I love movies like that, simple all-in-one "bottle-episode" type movies. All is Lost is also a favorite that I've watched multiple times. It's like a full-length "ASMR" experience. The sound editing is phenomenal.

You are spot on about 1408. I only discovered it about a year ago and have already watched it three times, and it's my go-to recommendation to friends when asked for suggestions. It's also smartly layered, for instance, the brandy that he's given early on. It's barely discussed, but what a fun clue it was.

Haven't seen it in forever, but it ALWAYS stayed with me... One of the scariest movies I've ever seen, in the mental aspect... I literally use to freak my self out for years after seeing it, over thinking of scenarios like 1408. The idea of being in the situation from that movie, has TERRIFIED me lol. Amazing movie.

Maybe because of the fantasy elements of it, that it’s not as popular as his other movies. I’m not sure. But I love Guy Ritchie’s Arthur. I love the pace, the cast, the humor. 👍🏼

I really, REALLY tried to like Guy Ritchie's movies. But even with King Arthur, I just can't bring myself to get past his directing style. It sucks SO much to me. But, his style is at least, UNDENIABLY unique.

If you like that you have to watch Excalibur. It's not so much based upon historical events as it is the 15th century romantic poem about King Arthur himself and his life. It also stars lots of famous people before they were really famous. It might even be Liam Neeson's first movie.

I've never seen the movie The Warrior's Way (2010) starring Jang Dong Gun and Kate Bosworth on your lists, it's currently free on youtube, and I think it's one of the most beautiful movies...it does have the highest body count of just about any movie I've ever seen but it's still a beautiful movie. I just watched it again and 13 years later it's still fantastic.

Runaway Jury is a Great Film! I've owned a copy since it was released. While still over the top as it is a Grisham story, it's most court room realistic than The Firm and the Pelican Brief. And Rachel Weisz shines with John Cusack.

i just watched King Arthur, and loved the scene where they are trying to escape and end up in george's school. It was wicked! Charley Hunnam does and excellent job in films. Like the Gentlemen!!!!

Yes the old famous welsh story where King Arthur and his blind Kung Fu master friend fight the the Easterling elephants of Sauron that were led in by an Aztec god. That one was written in 1165 just before the Normans invaded and changed it I believe.

King Arthur Legend of the Sword was awesome to see in theater. It was pure adrenaline and magic. It got hurt at box office because it came out same week as Guardians of Galaxy 2

"Lone Star" has a fine cast and does a great job of weaving multiple stories and issues in a border town. The discovery of a skeleton in the desert really stirs it up. Political....racial.....immigration..... corruption.....forbidden love..... fractured families....military Great film!

The Impossible I watched maybe a year ago, and was shocked when I realized it was Tom Holland. He's just so little! However, I will say it was an amazing movie, and now I think I might have to go watch it again. I just remember the mom's leg injury, and I'm cringing already. Lol

Out of the Furnace.....This is Where I Leave You......Hell or High Water...... Wind River..... Chloe..... Henry Poole is Here.....The Square.... Mud.... Blood Father..... A Single Man.... Lost in the Sun.....Igby Goes Down... Take This Waltz......Best Man Down (don't listen to the critics or publicists - this is a dark movie, not a comedy).....The Escort......Love Song For Bobby Long......The Judge.. ...If I Were You......Transpecos...... Nobody......The Samaritan...... ....just rambling on about other favorites of mine! And that doesn't include the comedy, sports, and sci-fi faves!
