I *think* it will work like Spotify and report on the back-end. So, when a short is created from a short, the audio is linked back to the original audio and so credits given on the back-end. We can't see it on the front-end though..

It's still in beta version. In 90% of cases youtube wont recognize copyrighted song if that song is under 30 seconds. And I think this is what happens here, at least for now. But there will be problems in the future that is for sure.

Utterly fantastic. I've been struggling with people stealing my videos for years on the platform, I have pages and pages of copyright requests I can make from people that steal my old content and put in big compilations of other stolen content or people who have taken just my audio and used it for their own work without credit or permission. Dealing with this issue has been a regular part of my channel maintenance for 5+ years, and now I come to find out youtube has not only not done anything to make this better, but now they are literally providing support and in-platform tools and HELP people steal my content and give me no support or monetized back-end in the process. It was bad enough youtube shorts weren't monetized to begin with, but even now with a 45% revenue take from ads between shorts, its been a massive blow to myself and I'm sure lots of creators everywhere. Our videos were all in the algorithm one day and the very next day Shorts replaced them. Shorts are a video format that not only hinders the kind of content a creator can actually make but also at a significant cut in revenue that's less than half what a normal video of the exact same length and time the platform has had for decades would. I understand that KZbin has to adapt to keep itself competitive, but they do so at the cost of the people and businesses that make their living here on the platform as content creators. I know that I personally have experienced such a drastic change in revenue and viewership that I went from living a fairly comfortable existence during the pandemic to a point that I was able to make some investments in my long term retirement fund, to now making barely more than minimum wage, all because youtube has decided to entirely change its algorithms to favor the more creatively restrictive and less profitable short form content. I'm adapting by uploading older content as shorts, but hearing that in doing so now makes all those videos sampleable by other creators and there's nothing I can do about is disheartening to say the least. I told myself I will always make content, and I'm sure I always will, but as a business KZbin is making work as a content creator on their platform much less sustainable and stable, which is crazy to me because that's one of the very things that's made youtube revolutionary as a platform. I genuinely hope these kind of competitive corporate decisions does not ultimately lead to the self-sabotage of the platform's most unique features that lead to its initial, global success in the first place..

Yes. Now, KZbin only sends personalised shorts. So some shorts won't be notified.

Hi Rob, I use musics from shorts audio library and still get copyright claims and when I checked this with youtube via chat and mail support they say if owner decide we can get claims. But youtube claims it's safe and free to use. I am worries that they may even give us strikes. Can u help me here pls. If u want I can share the copy of the email conversation

From what I have read if the artsits change their mind, all that can happen is the short gets a claim but not a strike? Worst case gets the short deleted?

@@MontrealJunior Ok, For those video which got claim I Deleted the video :). I attended shorts Creators Virtual meeting. They confirmed that shorts Library music is safe to Use. " This music picker will be populated with music tracks from record label partners that have signed Shorts specific licensing agreements with KZbin." I had another question to them as the Shorts Video created Using that 15 Seconds Library Music was giving " Not eligible for monetization " and Restrictions as " Short Library with Third party content" I was worried that all hard work is gone in Vain. But in the Meet they Confirmed that Even Videos that say Above message will be eligible for revenue Sharing from Jan when New Monetization agreement will be rolled out. So All Shorts created safe to use Music from shorts library music 15 sec Remix you will get revenue sharing :) Don't use outside of the Library music you may get claim and Strike.

@@ChocoLearnTV I have noticed that most of the music or all the music so far is protected by a third party and you can not earn any revenue from the shorts if you have music in them as far as I have noticed. I think it is fair that the artists do get that sort of procetion but I wish KZbin could tell you that when you select a song that it is protected/can not make any revenue not see it after you have posted a video. The shorts universe is new to me tho XD ♥I honestly just love being able to make short content outside of the regular videos so it is a nice feature in the end.

Hi Rob, Technically you are not infringing copyrights with the available music, because KZbin (just like TikTok) struck a deal with certain record labels/publishers for shorts only for certain songs. Using the same short with the same music outside youtube is copyright infringement! Just like uploading copyrighted music to Mixcloud is no problem (they bought the rights), but uploading the same song to Soundcloud ,is! The copyright claims are not showing on shorts because you registered the music with the short, this is why you get a copyright claim when re-uploading the short with the same music

So I opened KZbin Studio on my phone, searched for music, edited the Short, and uploaded it, and I get a Copyright Claim on the video. Why the heck is KZbin offering me music that will result in a copyright claim? (They point out it is not a copyright strike.) Jasper. Is King. He really is.

This move illustrates that actions define intent - and KZbin is acting to show contempt for the intellectual property rights of creators. The lack of an account global check box (I know you said they said it was coming) to prevent sharing is also contemptable. Shorts should not have rolled out without one and it should require opt-in by default, not opt-out.

Question, if we created KZbin Shorts, used music from a service we pay for such as Epidemic Sound and uploaded through Studio and not on the Shorts Camera (Congrats on finally getting it btw) if someone samples our shorts with the music we're licensed to use but they're not, will that affect us, the original content creator? or them? Jasper is the cutest thing. Thank you for this video, I can see how a lot of work was put into it. I'm shocked at how many shorts are just straight up stolen TikToks uploaded by complete randos. And they're getting millions of views. There's entire shorts channels with thousands of subs based entirely on stolen screen recordings or TikTok downloads. I hope YT fixes this soon. In the meantime, smaller channels like mine are struggling to get "real" subs on our legit, by-the-rules, channels. Keep doing what you're doing, I wouldn't persevere if it weren't for you, guys.
