YouTubers are PROMOTING Pie Ad Blocker...

►Pie Ad Blocker, same developers as Honey, is still being promoted by KZbinrs/influencers despite being shady. Pie has similar affiliate link commissions as Honey AND they have been exposed for taking code from AdGuard and UBlock Origin. I think there was a rewards program for pizzerias called Slice. Never used it, but I have heard about their get a free pizza after filling your orders meter. I'm not sure if it's true, but there's a reason why I'm always skeptical about reward programs. Microsoft Rewards burned that bridge of trust.

The first thing I thought of when I saw Pie adblocker, was PieHole, a poplar raspberry pie adblocker. I have a feeling they chose that name because of that. Also, can I just say, I'd rather not watch long animations of ads going away, since I don't want to wait a while before I can view the page, and it would get old FAST. I'll stick with the brave adblocker, thanks. At least that's not doing anything shady.

I think honey doesn’t get promotions as much in the beauty space which is what her channel is mainly about so I think it’s sorta explainable that she didn’t know? I mainly saw honey in the commentary and tech space and the overlap is minimal.

I respect it a lot that you rejected the dodgy ad promo money. You're a good egg. DH 😊 This does remind me of every time I've seen a Better Help ad on a video - there's been a lot of users with bad experiences, but it took quite a while for people to disseminate that information to creators, so some people copped a lot of flak for promoting them after the info surfaced. But like you said here - people don't know what they don't know. It's a big world, and there's a lot of stuff going on everywhere, and not everyone runs in the same circles.

We don't know if those who did end up posting after it came out had to as well sadly. When you take a commission and make a sponsored segment, there is a contract you have to agree to. Sometimes it says if you don't do it, you have to pay a fee or do something else that could mess with them badly under the legal obligations. We don't know who all had something bad in their contract after it came out that honey and Pie were not good companies too.

Hey, amazing video. The past videos made me think pie was shady, but I did not know how shady pie is. This video pointed out that pie are being involved with advertising and affiliate commisions, as if they want no one to get money other than their sponsors, this is just gatekeeping at this point. Im going to put in some research into this and trying to see whether they are scamming or are just suspicious, I will tell you soon. Im sorry for making this massive paragraph instead of a sentence.

Honey was definitely the spark that lit the flame. I can't speak for others, but i now feel naturally uneasy about *any* form of advertisements in any video. I have nothing against the creators, it's just for how long we've dealt with ads decreasing in quality, and now, ads that outright steal from those they 'support'. I mean, honestly, the *only* ad i like now is self-adverts.

Things that reward you for viewing ads is actually an amazing idea. If you did replace usual ads with yours, then you can easily get paid by advertisers, and pay like 10% of what you get. And with that strategy, more downloads, more advertisers, more money, and the viewer feels like they're being paid. This is honestly an amazing buisness strategy, someone do a genuine version of this.
