I actually grew a plan out of the base of the cabbage that I was about to cook. It made a bunch of pods the has seeds in it. I tried planting the seeds and they grew after a week.

I tend to use the outer leaves for sauerkraut, after removing the fibrous middle vein/stalk. Saves wasting them. Great videos.

Chinese cabbage is one of my favorites, (my wife is half Chinese) I do have a challenge at times getting it form a head. Savoy is the best tasting of "regular" cabbage, along with Jersey wakefield sweet. Flat Dutch I use for Kraut).

My favorite type of cabbage to eat is savoy cabbage, and I planted it from seed in spring and it is just now starting to form loose heads.
