Just watched a video of a guy in New Zealand who built up a Klunker using some of your ideas. Turned out pretty good adding patina and such. It's amazing how video's can influence people half a world away. Excellent job here Randy.

That was a blast to watch. Had no idea you were a welder, crappy as you say (haha), but still a welder. That is klunkin' 101 at it's best! 👻
@Locojoe Жыл бұрын
I've had the welder for many years. Never took the time to try and get better at it though. I used to build more freakbikes like tall bikes, swing bikes etc... Pretty rare that I use it any more. Thanks Mike!

I would have left the 2-speed klunker, and gone with the black BMX bars you had on it for a sec! Very cool that you can weld! I’d love to learn how.
@Locojoe Жыл бұрын
I knew that configuration would appeal to some. I've had the bmx bars and the 2 speed on my Schwinn Heavy Duti klunker at one time. I bought the welder and just started using it. I've had it for many years now but never took the time to really learn to use it or get any better at it. Thanks for watching.

Yo! That was great! I haven’t heard anyone say LiChi since the 80’s. I’m becoming painfully aware that I’m totally overthinking the whole idea of painting a bike.
@Locojoe Жыл бұрын
Thanks Josh! I don't have the patience to prep a bike properly and give it a decent paint job. Also it may look nicer but I think it would still scratch and chip nearly as quickly and easily.

Hey, nice build man! Would you care to explain how you obtain and setup the from "telephone" cable housing?
@Locojoe8 ай бұрын
Thanks! Many years ago a friend of mine gave me a bit of that handset housing.I don't know where he got it. It's funny because I worked for the telephone company and had access to it but never thought of it at the time. It just happens to be the right inside diameter that a brake cable housing fits inside it. IDK where it could be obtained but seems there would be a lot of it out there somewhere since all the payphones have been removed.

You should do this again and instead of chopping the tube off, just add another one!

Turned out better than I expected for what started out as a very low end girls bike frame that would have gone to the trash otherwise

What brand of chain do you like? Always enjoy watching.
@Locojoe Жыл бұрын
Sorry but I don't have a preference and couldn't tell you if one is better than another. With most parts I generally buy whatever's the cheapest. If working on something higher end I would maybe take what I purchase a little more seriously. Thanks!

I like your bike builds.l was wondering if ever use any 3speeds on you builds?l use some of the with the electric motors on my builds and that's all you need.
@Locojoe Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I have built up internally geared 3 speeds in the past. The only one we have left is a Schwinn cantilever frame bike of Nova's. They've all been coaster brake. Someday I might build up a bike with a non coaster brake 3 speed. Yeah I imagine 3 speeds and a motor would be plenty of range..

Why don’t you just put a single speed freewheel on there like a 17t or 18t instead?

Well, I didn't have one and I like to use what parts I have on hand but mostly I suppose because I do like having a few gears. Thanks for watching.
